Hello Seniors
Here again I am here for suggestion from you but this is not for me, this is for my friend who is now struggling in his career.......
Actually he did BA in journalism from MCRP, Bhopal University & also is topper of his university..... He was keen to work in journalist profile but not getting very good opportunity & salary inspite of having experience of about 2 years. Due to this he drop this field & enter in sales of Insurance & loans because of becoming helping hand to his family & some responsibilities... Since past 3 years he is in sales profile only but now got fed up of this because he don't have any interest in this field. He want to do writing & also trying to give time to that.....
Now please guide me how he should go & pick up the right track for growing in his career with his interest also......

Hi Neha,
You can suggest your friend to look out for jobs as a content writer. There is a huge demand for them and there are lot of companies who take people with no experience as they have a test in the interview process to gauge the skill-set.
In case there is any further information needed reagrding this, you may tell your friend to call me.

As suggested by others there is great demand of content writers..& i think he should try for that in IT companies..& its not necessary to have an IT background because he has a different profile..
Hello Neha,

I think you missed the point Giridhar Alwar was trying to make.

I think you must insist to your friend that he go step-by-step. First let him decide which direction he wants to go from here--it's never too late, even though he definitely has lost some time in his career & life.

Again like Giridhar suggested, let him do a SWOT analysis--hope you understand this. Just as it is important for any Company to do a SWOT, it is equally--if not more, since it could be sometimes be a matter of life--important for individuals also to do it @ different points of time in their lives--especially when critical decisions need to be taken.

Going by what you mentioned about your friend, looks like he is confused about his goals in life--or @ worst, he doesn't seem to have any at all. Since you seem to be really concerned about him, suggest you help him out.

Just as all wouldn't fit into a Sales role, so too all wouldn't fit into the Journalist role. Since you mentioned his interest in writing & someone suggested a career as a Content Writer, first check out if he is good in Written Expression--which is very important in such roles/careers. For such roles, command in any language is also important--not necessarily English. If he has such skills, English can be learnt--it's more a matter of 'when' rather than 'if'.

All these actually would form a part of the SWOT analysis. There are TWO aspects/parameters you need to help him to recognize in himself--what his Interests are AND where do his Capabilities lie? Both aren't the same--suggest him to take-up such a career where BOTH his Interests AND Capabilities coincide--that way he will definitely be happy & successful. [I have seen many persons who just plump for any opportunity that interests them & then after some time realize the hard way that they aren't cut-out for that line. Then they look for another line. Looks familiar, doesn't it--after seeing your friend? And I have also seen parents with the same ham-strung mental attitude].

And once he zeroes-in on such a career-path, let him not waver from it. And ask him to be prepared to struggle it out--nothing worthwhile in life is achieved easily & without struggle/effort. I recollect a quote here: Plan the work & work the plan :-)

All the Best.

Hello Mam / Sir His basic interest is in feature writing...... in Hindi because he says whatever he thinks he can write down on paper in hindi.....
Hello Neha,
I understand his INTEREST, but I was also referring to his CAPABILITY.
You mentioned--he says whatever he thinks he can write down on paper in hindi. If he really can [pl note that I am NOT casting any doubts, but quite often people confuse interest with capability & if you think it's meaningful & to be very sure that he really can do it, you can ask him to do it once to be sure], then maybe he is better suited for the journalist line.
Maybe he didn't wait sufficiently long enough to make his mark in journalism & got diverted to sales? Pl think about this aspect--I feel this must have been what happened [given that he topped the Univ too]. 2 yrs isn't a long time to jell into a career for some.
Also, he may not be suited for the Content Writer roles IMMEDIATELY--since most of such roles need good English skills. Maybe he can begin to learn & pickup English--since it's never a waste to learn new languages/skills.
And I would like to repeat again: ask him to be prepared to struggle it out--nothing worthwhile in life is achieved easily & without struggle/effort.
All the BEST.
