Dear All,
I am an HR person having 3.6 years of experience. Much of my experience is in recruitments. other areas what i have worked are joining formalities, induction, employee welfare activities. Recently i got one offer for the post of Training Co-ordinator (IT Skills). I am confused whether to go ahead or not. in one way I do not want to be in only recruitments so this opportunity sounds positive to me but at the same time I do not know whether I will be open for Core Hr job openings in the future. Please suggest me what to do.

Issue is what u enjoy doing, and weather Training profile will attract you and make you enjoy it....Mostly Training coordinator is like handling only the "joining Formalities " or Coordination for Induction program. You will only coordinating for Training activities like checing participants, inviting them and tracking their participation.

You need to check the JD provided, does it include :

- Doing / Tracking TNA

- Traning analysis / Mandays

- Fixing Traning Calendar

Do you want to be a trainer in future ?

What are you looking that matches this profile ?

If you want to be generalist HR, then the next step for you should be handling Comp. n ben. This will make to syitable for handling HR Operations or Employee life cycle and give you much grip on HR Cost and dynamics.

Hope this helps you in making your decision, unless money is really Good and it shifts the decision towards this role or the orgnaizational Brand is too imp to let go.....but then will it not become a problem if you want to move out of the profile....in future or you may not enjoy .....

Following will be my job profile if I accept this offer. Please check and let me know what should i do in the future to get into Core HR. By accepting this offer will I get a chance to come back in Core HR?

01 Sourcing the trainer from the database as well as from job portals once a training request has been received from the client.Keep updating the profiles of the trainers and schedule their calls .

On finalizing the training programme ,the necessary details of the programme along with the prospective faculty for the further discussions and process.

02 A telecon/ personal meeting to be arranged by The coordinator between the faculty and the client for the technical capability of the faculty as perceived by the client.

03 On receiving a feedback from the client, all the necessary arrangements in terms of travel, hotel bookings (for outstation faculty), course contents, training kits to be made by The coordinator .Infrastructure arrangements in terms of venue, catering etc to be done by The coordinator

04.On the last day of the training or a day after that the invoice to be forwarded to the client

Taking feedbacks of the program and making an excel sheet by putting all the data in place. Also sharing the same with the client and the trainer so as to track the effectiveness of the program.

06 Circulating the Workshop , carrying out mass email campaigns coordinating with the trainers for the dates and following up for the enrollments with the clients.

07. Carrying out various meetings with the clients for understanding their training needs and carrying out all necessary trainer’s meetings and sending training proposals ,following up and finalizing the training orders. Sending monthly news letters to clients.

08. Identifying and meeting new trainers and identifying their skills for the delivery.
This anyway may not lead you to core HR
may be a training co ordinator
you might make yourself specialised in training coordination, get yourself trained in Train teh trainer programs
you might also get trained in Tranining need identification and skill matrix for organisation and you might make way yourself in SKill enhancement programs and be a trainer by yourself
you can yourself be a consultant for skill enhance ment for organisations
