Dear Sirs,
I am working in a steel manufacturing company. We have around 200 permanet employees. Every year we keep the provision of financial provision of budget for training and development in annual budget and obtain the approval for the same from top management.
We are facing the problem in budgeting the man hours for the budgeted finance. So far I was taking the training needs from each department and based on various topics we were just estimating training hours for the budgeted finance.
What should be the correct method of estimating the budeted hours for the taining planned . How I should go ahead about the same. We are doing budget exercise for 2011-12 in the month of February. My problem is budgeted financial figure of training and development should have some relevance to training hours planned for the year.
Please help me by giving your comments and guidance.

Hi Santosh, Each Industry have their own benchmark on training. There is no standard. Some reputed companies spend 2-5% of their gross revenue. In Japan, the figure is 15-20%. Regards R.Ponraj
