Dear "Thankyou2011" (:) )

Let me explain the basis of additions and deletions of employees under Health Insurance / Mediclaim

In case the organisation had Group Health Insurance which allows for Pro rata addition and deletion of employees and their premium, the following will apply:

The insurance policy is renewed for a period of 1 year. From the date of inception of the cover, till 365 days ahead, you pay the premium. Lets now take an example of addition of employees, ie. in case the employee joins after the policy has been in place. If the employee joins after 63 days, then he will be covered for 302 days ( 365-63 days). Therefore what ever premium you have paid lets say "X' for 365 days you need to use the following calculation : (302 * X) / 365
Same calculation needs to be done for deletion and refund of premium. ie in case the employee leaves the organisation after 63 days. The above calculation and formula will give you the amount of premium to be refunded. Please note this refund will NOT happen in case the employee leaving the organisation had claimed during the currency of the policy.

Hope this helps.

Do let me know in case you need any further clarification or assistance.

Regards, Deepak
