I was born in down south but did my college, work and all other things in North lived most of my life in North, having great experiences both good and bad.

one thing we need pay attention here is that everyone respects and his or her own culture and the culture comes with different attitude, behaviour, beliefs, clothing and practices.

South Indian is always harassed in north and the north in the south and that is an individual experience and let us not generalize. let us not use this forum to find out who is big and who is right or great.

We are here for a job and that is our choice and we need to live and let live others

As educated, HRs dealing with people let us open our eyes to few realities and practices the good of it

1. See the culture around and live accordingly
2. learn the language as there is noway we can survive with one or two languages in India
3. dress code let us respect the place one has come to live
4. Put your self in others shoe and see things from their side
5. let your fun does not hurt others sentiment
6. leave the generalization of an issue then we can deal the situation
7. be true to yourself in clothing, practices as one did in his or her own place

If Someone Religiously biased

it is his right and if he press others to follow or influence then he is making a crime
these type of people have to be dealt carefully as they can pull crowds to support as HR we get in to trouble
i worked in a Christian company but the employees are Hindus and Muslims with different beliefs yet we respect their festivals and importance and they do the same to us. it is the employees of other religion arrange Christmas celebration and we reciprocate when they have festivals.

As HRs if one finds Religious intolerance we have the right to council, escalate, even issue a strict verbal warning provided the person is unbearable cause threat to unity. In this development stage sticking to religion and forcing is not acceptable.

Hope i make my views clear just an example When our people go abroad they strictly follow the rules, beliefs and practices of US, OZ, UK, SA, Iran, China but when they travel south to north or north to south in india all these are not applied and complains are raised.. it is a bit serious thought.

Every coin has two side and every issue too

I request you all not to start arguments with Religion, Caste, Creed, South / North indians, nationality as they are sensitive and can be misunderstood

Thanks

Antony Prakash

Once you are in Rome, live like the Romans. Accept the fact that you are in a different land. Love and follow their culture and the people will love you. If you consider them as different from you, they will abhor you. You took the option of going amongst them. So now it is upto you to happily continue with them.

Hi, Thank you so much for your Obvious words
I have tried all wt u said... Even I tried learning their language, they dont even appreciate n Help getting through their language. They feel insecure. At this case wt should be the solution??? I was given a choice For east location and for South location I choose South just because of this reason that I will learn Some new language n be counter new culture. I took it a challenge saying "let the Difficulty See How Difficult I Am"

Dear Ram,
I respect your emotion of oneness, the quote u said We All Are Indians. But I cannot encounter Shivani's part also, ones u come n survive here for a while Its really lyk Indo-Pak. And also Why only WE ppl mst think that we all are Indians aren't they Indians.. Can't these people think that we all are Indians, we must share our culture and make one comfortable to their place.

Hi guru, I do agree with your point. I don't mind Nasir Hussain Playing for England. But just think, What if, He was not allowed to play for England team Being an Indian. Similar is my case, I am ready n agree to accept their culture their language but they are not allowing me to do so. i thought they will be welcoming as they are INDIANS not Foreigners

Dear Aahnapahwa
Thank you for your valuable quote i mean i did not feel emotional and what made me is india and pakistan are enemies so shivani told that the south and north indians are like that but that is not so and as you said all should have the attitude saying that we are indians because we are educated and born to educate them as an HR....
Thank you Aahnapahwa and special thanks for shivani B also.....

Whoa! Why are we discussing regionalism based difficulties? And why oh why did the post contain the word harassment? Come one ppl... It is just a perception that needs a little revamping. We are all culturally educated professionals and it is our duty at work [wherever we work] to put behind sourness and try to work as a unit. Despite all the riduancies that come across. I hope we all understand subtle differences, accept them and still try to contribute to our work area in one spirit: Coherence.

Folks,
The real problem is mindset of the people that is making a mountain out of a mole. As far as any office in our country is concerned, most of the offices have working language or official language as English. Then where comes the discrepancy due to language.. A smart working person can survive and succeed in any kind of situation however hard that may be. Initially there may be some hiccups but eventually he can come out successful. More than the language it is the behaviour that counts. Now a days, organization are looking more into EQ (Emotiional Quotient) rather than IQ (Intellectual Quotient) of the employees. An employee who can sustain any amount of pressure in any situation and delivers goods for the organization is considered as an Asset for the company.
Hence folkss, try to be an Asset and not a liability for the company. Keep your silly problems away and focus on the right thing to come up.
All the best...
