Try converting your thinking in english so that u dnt have to struggle while framing sentences. This would help you in avoiding translation which scares. Try to speak to yourslef mentally in english regarding anything you are doing in daily life. For e.g, if you are preparing a cup of tea for yourself then try talking to yourself like : " I am preparing tea for myself. I have taken a pan and put some water in it. Now I have switched on the stove and so on..." You can do this almost with everything you do in your daily life. This would help you.
You can also do mirror excersie - take any topic and speak on it in english in front of mirror. start with easy topics like -"My family, India etc and then move onto some difficult topics. This would increase your confidence and would help you in giving shape to your thoughts.

Hi

For anything you do in life, a clear goal /vision, adequate motivation / enthusiasm, hard work / discipline and the ability to take risks/ challenges are critical attributes.

However if you are seeking help in improving your communication skills in a short time, I am afraid it is not so easy. I presume when you refer to communication skills you also mean that you want to improve upon your English Language skills too. What you primarily require is the key attributes called 'discipline' and 'enthusiasm' with which you can achieve anything you want.

Your enthusiasm is the reason you wrote in at Citehr. The next test is to be disciplined and follow the suggestions given here.

1. My first suggestion is to read as much in English as possible. A standard daily English Newspaper and the Readers Digest have very good reading material.

2. Make more English speaking friends and make a determined effort to speak only in English, even if you keep forgetting words, or tend to stammer or your friends tend to laugh at you. This will require a lot of will power but believe me you will soon improve.

3. I would also suggest you try to learn at least 3 -5 new words and look up the meaning in a dictionary. then try and use these words in your daily work and in your communication.

4. If you still feel that professional help is needed then you will have to attend English speaking classes

5. You must also use WORD to type in your written communication and try to correct the errors that show up. This is quick and easy way to improve your written skills. eg. there are a few errors in what you have typed in Citehr regarding your problem, which could easily have been corrected before posting it. Avoid all tendency to use SMS language, short forms, slang etc.

6. Finally, if you can, do visit my blogs listed below regularly and try to learn the new words in it and also be inspired by it. You can click on the links below for instant access.

Dear friend,

Human mind is a dust bin and can be filled up by only two ways i.e. your eyes and ears.

If you want to learn English language then you will have to fill up your dust bin with english. For this purpose, you can use above mentioned two ways.

First way "Eyes" : You should read english story books/newspaper whatever you like but you should always remember that whatever you read it should be interesting for you. I mean you should enjoy the matter while reading. When you read story books/newspaper you will find some unknown words. You should not go for dictionary for unknown words. You should try to understand the meaning of those words which are not familiar without taking help of dictionary or any thing else. One day your mind will become more powerful and whenever you face a new word, your mind will automatically understand the meaning of it.

Second way "Ears" : You should listen to other persons carefully those are good in english. Whenever you hear a new statement, you should keep as it is in your mind. You should also watch and listen the english movies and news.

When you daily load your dust bin by above mentioned two ways, one day it will be over flowed and english will be coming out automatically through your mouth which is the only way to come out.

Dear friend, it is not one day job it may take 2-3 years. If you really want to learn it you'll have to love english language & your curiosity to learn english should not be reduced until you learn it.

Do practice daily & you will find result.

Best of luck.
