Wish we had programs where we could apprentice as a CEO and test waters, get our fundamentals right and be THE success at the role. Here's a firm that offers such a program, wish it was around us for everyone to avail !!!!

I would have enrolled in it for sure....let me know what do you think about it ! Here's a mention to our community, Our moderators and contributors, have been volunteering as Knowledge Leaders in this community contributing to its success. Kudos to all of them !

Catch -a-fire

Our Mission and Vision
Catchafire's mission is to improve the quality of the volunteer experience by providing the opportunity for people to volunteer their skills in a powerful way. Our vision is to make it easy for every professional to volunteer their skills if they want to and to make it easy for every nonprofit and social enterprise to access and effectively use skills-based volunteers.
We believe in providing efficient, effective, and meaningful volunteer experiences for both volunteers and the organizations with whom they work. We believe that a good volunteer experience can transform someone's life, and we also know that a bad one can turn someone away from giving their time forever.
About Catchafire
Catchafire matches professionals who want to volunteer their skills with nonprofits and social enterprises that need their help. We match volunteers and organizations based on a variety of characteristics including skills, cause interests, and time availability.
We help organizations identify their needs as short-term, discrete, and individual-based projects. Our projects are structured in this way to make it easy for professionals to find time to volunteer in the midst of their busy daily lives. Check out our projects here.
We charge nonprofits and social enterprises less than 5% of the cost that they would normally pay for the professional services our volunteers provide. Our service is free for all professionals willing to donate their time. We also help corporations offer our skills-based volunteer opportunities for their employees.
Catchafire is a New York City-based, for-profit social mission business and a certified B-Corporation.

CEO PROJECT : Catchafire - CEO Expert Advice

Greetings,

Here's an article from Wall Street journal on how an apprentice program can help in achieving greater success. The best part which I found was the way different anecdotes were shared. I am sure you have a similar anecdote that curved success for you. Please share it with us.

Pursuing a business directorship involves "matching skill sets and cultural fits,'' observes Denise Morrison, the new chief operating officer of Campbell Soup Co. She spent years prepping for her first public-company board assignment – by getting nonprofit experience first.

While a U.S. vice president for Nestle SA in 1994, Ms. Morrison joined the board of Leadership California, a group that helped young women advance. She won a directorship at Ballard Power Systems Inc. eight years later and at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in 2005.

Ms. Morrison submitted a one-page summary to both concerns that stressed her nonprofit work and related external activities. Your customized biography for corporate boards should note whether you ever served on a nonprofit's powerful audit committee, suggests Susan Stautberg, co-founder of OnBoard Bootcamp, a $1,195 seminar.
