Buttering is ok. But we are facing a SERIOUS problem.
Managers and above are demanding buttering from their
team members in a particular MNC company in India. They are directly in a bold and brash way are threating their team to be part of their group/gang or face dire consequences during appraisal. Some Managers have already shown their colors and have got some of their team members who dont know/intend to butter out of this big IT MNC. Worse still this company is projecting itself as a HIGH PERFORMANCE organization.
I, as an HR manager, HR being the support function, am not able to understand how to stem this rot. The problem is that the issue is with senior managers and these are people from very reputed institutions(IIT, IIMs).

Situation of performance in India :
Some places it is excellent, Some places it is Good, some places it is average and some places it is poor.

I thinks we are extra self critical here than we should probably should be.
Like anywhere in the world (after having worked at global level for many many years) there are rage of employers..
I think Indian corporations are no way behind other organisation given the cultural context we operate..
It all depends upon the Leader of the organisation. If the leader want performance culture then it gets built into DNA of the organisation and we have highly performing culture..
