HI Rupali..

PeopleSoft, Inc. was a software company that provided HRM (human resource management), CRM (customer relationship management), Manufacturing, Financials, EPM (Enterprise Performance Management) and Student Administration software solutions to large corporations, governments, and organizations. Founded in 1987 by David Duffield and Ken Morris, originally headquartered in Walnut Creek, California, and eventually Pleasanton, California, PeopleSoft's roots began with an idea Duffield had about a "Client-Server" (then a new concept) version of Integral Systems's popular mainframe HRMS package. Once Integral declined development and released Duffield to pursue this endeavor on his own, PeopleSoft was born. In 2003, when PeopleSoft acquired J.D. Edwards, it decided to differentiate its former product line with those of Edwards by renaming both products. PeopleSoft's original flagship product was rebranded as PeopleSoft Enterprise. J.D. Edwards' ERP product was rebranded as PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne. In January 2005, PeopleSoft was acquired in a hostile takeover by the Oracle Corporation. This takeover was resisted by PeopleSoft but Oracle overcame the legal challenge and after the approved merger, PeopleSoft ceased to be an independent company, although its products continue to be used by thousands of companies.

Both the Enterprise and EnterpriseOne products are considered ERP systems and modularized into specific components: HRMS (including payroll, human resources, benefits, etc.), Financials (including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Asset Management, EPM, etc), Manufacturing (including inventory, purchasing, billing, order management, production management, cost management), Student Administration, and CRM (including helpdesk, support, and sales). PeopleSoft is well known for its ability to be easily customized, or tailor-made, to fit the specific business needs of each client, while still being generic enough to meet corporate and governmental tracking requirements. Its detractors decry the frequent bugs found in the system, which required patches and fixes. PeopleSoft — like most large software companies — spawned an industry-within-an-industry of PeopleSoft consulting, the implementation and maintenance of the product.

So can understand taht its a software similar to SAP, so they are just asking whether you have worked on SAP or have any informations on the same..

Hope it will help you to get teh things understand..

Amit Seth.

Hi Rupali n all,

While doing works just gone through some Presentation over ERP or SAP/Peoplesoft submitted by some trainees to us.. some of the important points are here which would help little bit more to understand ERP..

A business management system that integrates all facets of the business, including planning, manufacturing, sales, and marketing. As the ERP methodology has become more popular, software applications have emerged to help business managers implement ERP in business activities such as inventory control, order tracking, customer service, finance and human resources. Typically, an ERP system uses or is integrated with a relational database system.

HR is one of the Application module of the system..

Human resource management

* Human resource management

It covers the entire HR functions..

Sr. No. Functions of HR

1 Employee Information Management

2 Shift Maintenance

3 Attendance Maintenance

4 Leave Management, Weekly off, compensatory off

5 Salary Generation, Late coming/early going

6 Manpower Allocation

7 Contract Labor Management

8 Apprentice Management

Dear All.

I have seen that there is lot of confusion amongst the persons regarding SAP or Peoplesoft.. as i am getting a number of mails regarding teh same..

SAP or Peoplesoft are the companies which develops ERP system, and HR is one of the module of this system. Most of the companies are now implementing this ERP system in their organisation to run the business process smoothly.

Definitely an HR with knowledge to work on SAP or Peoplesoft software get some advantage over the others.. I don't know any of the Institute name in Delhi.. But yes its true that some institutes are there providing the same..

But i heard one is in Hyderabad.. that you can get with the search..

But going directly to learn the system without any experience or any knowledge of HR would not be fruitful.

As it doesn't teach you about the HR functions.. but it only provides you training how to work on this software.. How to manage the data n all informations over the application software.

I hope now it will be very much clear with you all ..

Regards,

Amit Seth.
