Once Buddha was walking from one town to another town with a few of his followers.. This was in the initial days. While they were traveling, they happened to pass a lake. They stopped there and Buddha told one of his disciples, “I am thirsty. Do get me some water from that lake there.”

The disciple walked up to the lake. When he reached it, he noticed that right at that moment, a bullock cart started crossing through the lake. As a result, the water became very muddy, very turbid. The disciple thought, “How can I give this muddy water to Buddha to drink!”

So he came back and told Buddha, “The water in there is very muddy. I don’t think it is fit to drink.” After about half an hour, again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back to the lake and get him some water to drink. The disciple obediently went back to the lake.

This time too he found that the lake was muddy. He returned and informed Buddha about the same. After sometime, again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back. The disciple reached the lake to find the lake absolutely clean and clear with pure water in it. The mud had settled down and the water above it looked fit to be had. So he collected some water in a pot and brought it to Buddha.

Buddha looked at the water, and then he looked up at the disciple and said,” See what you did to make the water clean. You let it be…. and the mud settled down on its own – and you got clear water. Your mind is also like that! When it is disturbed, just let it be. Give it a little time. It will settle down on its own. You don’t have to put in any effort to calm it down. It will happen. It is effortless.

Hello Reddy,
A nice Posting--resembles the Karma sayings of Hinduism.
And the reply for Sanjay & Jyothi is:Just let it be....NOT idly but with YOU doing what's in YOUR hands wholeheartedly & not just because you are being pressured [by self or something external] into doing it--the difference is in the intention & feeling, that's all.
Rgds,
TS

Dear All

Please follow the following technique and details for your betterment:

LIGHT

This Light is not the physical light. It exists at a subtler level. It is everywhere.

This Light has intelligence. It has all the positive energies. It carries Love, Peace, Wisdom, Healing energies and all Life forces.

This Light is the Source of all Creation. This Light is God.

Light Channelling

Light Channels are those human beings who voluntarily channel and spread the Light, bringing the Light from its subtler level to the human level.

Light Channelling is bringing down the Light in the subtler level to the human level by intending strongly and then spreading it around the entire world.

Light Channelling is spreading Love, Peace and Harmony carried by the Light.

Light Channelling is spreading the Healing Energies carried by the Light.

Light Channelling Technique

• Imagine an ocean of Light above you.

• Imagine the Light descending and filling up your body.

• Experience the Love and Peace of the Light for a minute.

• Then, imagine the Light spreading around gradually to your home, locality, country and the whole world.

• Do this for minimum 7 minutes and maximum as you wish.

Wishing a better life for yourself, everyone and this world !!

Very true. When we react instantaneously to any provocation, and later we realise that the reaction was totally inappropriate. It is almost always necessary that we lean back and take time to realise the situation and try to think on the alternatives. Surely very interesting post.

hi,
Very inspiring story.
@sanjay: In real life facing Issues/escalations/pressure situations , what you can learn from this story is:
Take time, keep your mind relaxed.Give some time to get things settled.
Time is the best healer.
In tension you never find a solution. The problem what we find in pressure is that we dont catch the root cause of the problem, and we search every where apart from the root for the answer.
By keeping a patient mind we always get solutions.

Thank you ..this is indeed a nice and calming message.
I was always taught to count to 10 slowly when angry. Being somewhat short tempered and never one to suffer fools gladly, I never paid much serious attention to this advice. But the few times I did, it had a calming affect on my mind.
Thanks again

Good one..... These are the stories from "Jataka Stories" , which claim to tell the stories of previous births of Budda in both human and animal forms....... Jati : being reffered as previous births of Goutama Bhudda, (I suppose some 550 births or something, I am clear...)

The same kind of the story is referred somewhere ...... in which it speaks about the importance of Bhagavadgeetha.....

An old Farmer lived on a farm in the mountains with his young grandson.

Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Bhagavat Geeta. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.

One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa! I try to read the Bhagavat Geeta just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Bhagavat Geeta do?"

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water."

The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, "You'll have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again.

This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead. The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.

At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house.

The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, "See Grandpa, it's useless!"

"So you think it is useless?" The old man said, "Look at the basket."

The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.

"Son, that's what happens when you read the Bhagavat Geeta. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out. That is the work of Krishna in our lives."

There so many beautiful stories are there in Jataka too compared to Panchatantra, VikramBethala, Akbar Birbal, Tenali Ramakrishna....... are very informative as well as refreshing.......
