To my knowledge, MBA is just a enhancement of your managerial skills and professionalism. There are too many people who had been successful without MBA. It again depends on the way you build your career. Especially in IT Recruitment, most of the people are from technical background working as HR and they dont have MBA with them.
I am also an MBA graduate and when i started my career, I realised that MBA is just an enhancement and not an essential skill. But again, when you move the hierarchy, it is essential for a person to have managerial skills and there MBA or any Managerial degree would help him to enhance his managerial skills..

Indeed its not only MBA which makes you successful in your career. I have master degree in computer sciences and working as Asst. Manager HR&IR, its not very far in past when i joined as an Admin Officer in this organization (A multinational FMCG) in December 2003. Now a days i am thinking to have an MBA also (Because it will enhance my managerial skills). By doing a MBA i will bridge this gap in short span of time (that too will take two years), otherwise i have to depend only on experience to get me up on the ladder of management.
At the end i would ask that having an MBA is not mandatory at beginning of career but after getting stability it really helps out to move up.

sometimes it happens that while joining any firm we doesn't know what is the actual process of work and we try to apply all our MBA knowledge which we had learn. but the fact is different. in company we has to perform different task.

According to me MBA is essential to enter in a good organization and also as u said it will help to move faster in the managerial ladder. It is a program to shape the personality of an individual.

see.. it depends on individual capabilities......., but then i also i feel that MBA provide an edge over other...., it provide a proper direction or you can support in way of dealing the issues in organization, coz as we all know MBA is not limited to theortical aspect itself, it also provide practical training, which i think is very helpful for anyone who join any organization....
it built up that confidence in any individual, you can compare this with any non MBA'ians, growth for MBA's people are much more higher then, growth for non MBA'ians

Unless you are a Michael Dell or Bill Gates in the making, it is better to do MBA. It is very enjoyable and practical and good for learning certain decision making tools. In real life, you may come across NON-MBA who are better in certain operational matters but that is a different context.
Try to do MBA after some work experience if possible. US Universities prefer that. I did a one year full time post graduate diploma which the professors used to call "crash course MBA" because in their words "Class participation and discussions were much better than the normal MBA"

MBA is a better step zone to climb the organisation ladder, I have seen many MBA holders just have the prestegious degree but dont have the requisite aptitude and aptitude. As somebody suggested it is better to do MBA after acquiring some practical experience.
In my case, I am a non - MBA HR Manager of a garment factory having 2250 employees. I am working with this group having a turnover of 300 crores for the last 6.5 years. And of course, I am trying to do all my level best to pursue MBA.
