Dear all,
I am Senior HR Executive in a fmcg mnc (tobacco manufacturer) and need your expert opinion on the following area please:
Our company is looking into developing strategies to attract and retain talents as recently there has been quite a substantial number of resignations. Some of them were poached by an upcoming competitor. Would really appreciate it if you could please share your current practices in your company and/or your thoughts.

I understand your problem and accept it to be a serious problem. Well, I too face similar problems of retaining in my day to day life. To tackle the said issue, we have started a group insurance scheme. Under the scheme, if an employee after getting confirmation status, stays with my organization for at least three years he will get an amount which would be something around 5-6 times of his monthly salary & thereon the amount increases.
I think it is a good idea & you can confirm about this scheme from the insurance companies. If you think that the period of three years is too long you can reduce the period.

This problem had become a usual happening in all the companies. You can rework on the salary structure and start having exit interiews to understand the actual reason of the employee leaving the company (if you are not practicing already)
The major reasons for an employee to shift the job would be of
1. Financial growth.
2. Positional growth.
3. Locational preference.
Study about the present situation and also create various activities that would increase the morale of the employee. He also needs to be motivated both in financial and non-financial terms in a balanced way.
You can also add various beneficiary components in the salary structure that would make the employee satisfied. Have a regular assessment of each and every employee and make sure that he is satisfied with the present profile
