The world today is an ugly place to bring up our kids. How easy is it to inculcate core values of caring, kindness, respect and self-discipline, where these virtues are downgraded, even ridiculed?Raising children to have values, morals and the ability to make the right choices, in an X rated world of today seems like a daunting task indeed.

The hardest – and most important – job in the world is to be a parent. But as difficult and vital as that job is, it is one for which our training and education provides little or no support to improve our confidence and competence as parents. Parenting skills do not come naturally - “If only they came with a manual,” is the mantra of parents when confronted with a difficult situation.

Why doesn't discipline work the way it did 20 or 30 years ago? The old ways were simple solutions for a society with simple problems. Today's problems are more complicated. They require refined solutions. Parenting is no longer simple and sadly parenting is not taught but experimented.

Too many parents have the false belief that if they love their children as much as possible, misbehavior will someday improve. Love, warmth and affection are essential. They are fundamentals. However you also need knowledge, skills and right techniques. Children need trained parents as much as they need loving parents.

Parents want the best for their children. But adequate support to improve the confidence and competence of parents is often unavailable for many. A wide array of parents could benefit from counseling, mentoring, information and other forms of support that can help prevent long-term social and family problems, saving money – and even lives – in the process.

Help in child rearing is now available to all parents. We at Oscar Murphy are conducting a workshop on parenting, using the most practical process backed by
LATEST Research, wherein participants will discuss current issues & challenges faced by parents, behaviour observation and analysis, participate in behaviour assessment. The workshop is aimed at shaping children’s behaviour to bring out the best in them.

Hi Baskaran
Thanks for your info.
I really appreciate your initiative on this wonderful project that is very much needed in this 'rat-race' era.
I honestly believe a value based educational system,self-discipline of parents as well as teachers, and the role of grand parents inculcating morals to children are some the suggestive areas that needs attention in developing the new generations.
Are you planning such initiatives in Chennai?
Wish you all the best for your great efforts.
