Hi friends :)
Our company, a pvt sector bank, organizes Blood donation camps as part of CSR initiatives and also to make sure that there is a platform where employees from both the divisions, namely BRANCH BANKING DIVISION and DIRECT SALES CHANNEL, interact and learn to work in a team.
But this initiative has not met with the success we had expected. Following were the problems:
1) As the initiative was Direct Sales Channel, employees from branches showed little enthusiasm and there was very little participation
2) The initiative itself generated no buzz. People were scared and skeptical rather than being excited.
Now I need suggestions on wat should we do. Wat new initiative we should introduce and if we continue with blood donation camps, wat steps we should take to ensure success.

Hi Rajesh,
Having conducted a similar camp in my previous organizations, I can say the following :
1) It was run by HR along with some employees who are part of the Employee Involvement program.
2) Something like blood donation cannot be mandatory
3) Ensure that the day you choose to run the event is not month end or month beginning where people are tied up with targets and reports.
4) Assuming you have tied up with a well known hospital, you should publicise this along with the idea that the operation will be hygienic, sterile, and has no risk of infection.
Other initiatives -
1) suggest you contact Colgate. Last year they were doing a free dental checkup for corporates in India. I don't know if they were doing it this year.
2) Check the feasibility of introducing a Yoga class in the office at the start or EOD.
3) Do a workshop on writing a will.
4) Workshop on tax planning.
I'm sure that other members can add to this.

Hi Ryan,
Thanx a lot for the inputs. ( Also for being so prompt with the reply)
Dental check up and yoga sessions are good ideas,wl defin8ly look into it.
Another thing that i have to keep in mind is that the cost remains as low as possible.
Plz let me know if you come across other low-cost initiatives.
Regards
Rajesh
P.S : Will soon get back to you with our employee raiding discussion :)

Hi,
The list of employment involvement programs as suggested are really good. Few more inputs which might be helpful,
* Organising a 2 week kids camp during these summer vacations for the kids of the employees and organizing a family day at the end of the 15th day and arranging various kinds of competitions with the theme party.
* Organising a quaterly movie for 2-3 departments together. It will encourage cross-fuctional departments interaction.
Hope might be of some help to you.
cheers
Charu
