Greetings,

Please start with understanding the Business and the culture as you have mentioned it. Since you are new to this company, please make sure that you know the systems and its influencing factors very well. Understand what does the company needs from HR and prioritise accordingly. Incase the company is expanding, you may need to focus on the hiring. In case the hiring is required only to backfill, you may look at other areas. The Employee Data management is another area you may consider as it would give you all the information about your employees and how are they placed within the organization. Ensure the existing data is rightly stored including all the required documents. The appointment letters and other documents which you need to issue would have to follow the cycle of hiring and joining. For training and recruitment, study what is going on and why things have not worked earlier. The training needs to be planned as required by the business. Please make sure you understand the business well to initiate any program.

Employee engagement programs require to be designed as required by the environment. There are many, you need to find the custom fit to your organization. Rewards and recognition can be planned and implemented . Certain day/theme based events such as quarterly dinner , Bi-annually Townhalls and annual family/employee day can be considered .
