I m doing MBA...i m gonna do my project in HR..I ve selected my topic too,but no idea of hw to go ahead...It is "Emp.retention technique"...
Can anybody plz help me in framing the questionnaire ?????And how to go ahead ,what all data's to collect from the company ? Pls it'll b very useful to me.. nd i'll b more grateful to u.....

hiiiiiiPrincy..i m also doin MBA n workin on d same project "Retention Practices in Pharma inc." in an MNC in bangalore. You need to collect a lot of data such as-
1-Exit interview data,,this will help a lot
2-Ex-Employee contact no's---do a follow up of dem,,,ask dem question,,,based on certain parameters,,,,i will give u such question,,
3-Go to other companies,,,talk to people dere,,specially HR,,they will help u in dat,,as retention is an open topic to be discussed,,,,,
4-Talk to ur friends in HR batch,,,ask dem to know about retention technique,,
5-Most important,,instant recognition of employee,,,which is d only tool of retention 2day other then money,,,so think of as many effective instant recognition practices,,,like-wall of fame,, etc..
6-Think of new employee benifits,,,this u will know thry ur friends in other companies,,n seniors also who are workin somwhere,,,
so i have told u a lot of things,,work on dem,,,n if u hav any prob,,send me an mail....[/list]

Hi all,
I would rather like to see students giving as much info about in what type of industry they are doing and what do they already know about the topic. If you do not know much, i suggest that you do a search using Google or other search engines on the topic, decide on the aim and objectives of your research taking into consideration the type of organisation, the time constraint, etc. For example, what is good for an internship report is not good for a full end of year project report.
Further beware of copying from other reports. Some of the reports I have seen posted are of substandard quality, in terms of literature survey, methodology, and listing of sources in the bibiliograpy.
If you need any help, you could drop a private message if you wish. I am already helping a few students doing projects in other areas.

Hi ,

I notice a lot of you want to do a project on Attrition / help companies build Retention strategies.

In order to address this issue the first thing that you should do is to identify the root cause of attrition . This is best done by having a heart to heart conversation with the employee . An outsider tends to get the honest truth from the employee purely because when done internally the employee doesn't normally open up because he doesn't want to burn bridges .

Once you have the root cause you map it with employee information , broadly done by Manager, Location, Tenure, Age , Sex etc.

It doesn't end here !!!!

The organisation now would be required to address the issues that have come up from the findings , only then will attrition reduce.

While I don't have a questionnaire , as exit interviews should not be a form driven activity and is ideally done by having a free flowing conversation , what i can suggest is that you go to AceNgage website - HR solutions: Exit Interviews, Surveys, Coaching, R&R programmes, & more and click on the case study. This will give you a fair idea on what to ask exiting employees.

As a student, you should have made that clear in your post. As you would have known about this requirement months ago, why have you left it so late. I suggest that you start searching CiteHr, and also the web; study and digest the material available and write your own. Then, post yours or send it for comments.
Where are you doing your course and in what mode?
Also, please post your messages in "Proper English".

An appeal to Moderators:
Please advise the 'budding HR managers' to refine their written English. Cite HR is unique and we can not afford to have the 'SMS language' replacing Queen's English.
