This is a very harsh reality faced by one of my friend, which I am sharing with you. He was working with a FMCG as Sales officer & quit the job because he got a good offer from the competitor in same field.
This fellow took tendered resignation to his present employer & got clearance from previous employer.
On his joining date when he reported to his next employer, they refused him to join without assigning any valid reason.
As far as I know it is not covered under ID Act. The only remedy is under Indian Contract Act.
Now my question is what is the legal remedy available to this fellow & how to proceed.
Pl revert back with your suggestions.

I do not think he can do anything. He should not have had left his organisation without an offer letter, because he has to be communicated in some way or the other that he has been selected for a job.

we exactly dont know what would have happened between the between the formar employer and the present employer. in this given situation one cannot give any suggestion or opinion unless the truth should be known. normally any company would not venture this sort of dirty move and your friend was a victim. But this unethical hr practises are still exercised by certain family run companies.
i earnestly wish your friend the best in all his endeavuors.

If he had good relations with his previous employers, he should try and approach them and explain their position.
Otherwise, tell him to post his cv on a website, or you can pass his cv on to us so that we can try and fit him somewhere.

What we are left with just to guess different theories which may have worked.
In this world where one says do not even trust your own child, your friend has just accepted the verbal commitment and has not requested for a written communication from the new employer. Possibility is that there has something transpired between the previous and the current employer.
One thing he could do is make efforts-whats os ever and meet 'his to be supervisor' to find out what went wrong and try and prove himself along with briefing the person about his commitments and the repurcersion of no job---------may help

one needs to take an official communication, either in form of an offer letter or an appointment letter before taking any steps.
Request you post his cv on the portals available...but i sincerely hope he has already got another job...
