Hi HR Team,
I work in one software company.presently i am serving my notice period,but in the notice period time is my marriage.Can i take leave and serve the remaining notice period, because i don't want to extend my notice period above 2 months which i am already serving.Is there any chance my manager ask me to server beyond 2 months notice.If yes how to overcome this situation.I resigned from my services on 23 july with 2 months of notice period which will end on sep 24.Please advice me on this one.

At the outset let me congratulate you in advance on your marriage:)
Leave in notice approved is genrally not approved as this might effect the transition / KT activity which is going on. Hence there might be chances of your last working date getting extended in case you go on leave during your notice period.
This again would also depend on the no.of days you would want to go on leave. Hence would suggest you to check on the exit formalities once with your HR Representative and accordingly take a call.

Dear Nanduri,
Companies do adjust the notice period (no. of days fall short) by making wages deduction during full & final. It all depends on the approval of your resignation letter & relieving date. You should request your boss to relieve you early and deduct the amount from your full & final.

Hi, I would suggest to read rule book of the company such that you shall not be put in to inconvience.

First be clear as to what is your Company policy relating to Resignation/Notice Period. The normal practice is that any leave taken during Notice Period is on 'without pay' basis and taken as part of your Notice Period . If this is the case, then you will not have to work additional days. However the Company may not accept the leave as LWP but may want you to work compensatory (additional) days. Also find out if you can buy out the Notice Period. To answer all these questions you must first of all read the rule book / HR Manual relating to this matter. Alternatively talk to your immediate superior / HR person. They may understand the situation if you explain to them the whole matter clearly.

Please understand that grant of or refusal to grant leave is a management prerogative. However, under the circusmtances when your marriage is happening during the time when you are serving your Notice Period, I am sure your HR Manager will be pleased to grant you leave if you make a request for the same.

Leave can be granted during the period when and employee is serving Notice Period.

I have always strived to allow for the employee who has resigned to do his handover ASAP and then relieve him also at the earliest so that he can have a decent break from the "treadmill" before he starts all over again.
