The differences between coaching and mentoring

From Mauritius
p.murali64
I think the difference in simple terms is this. Mentoring is "Helping to Grow". Coaching is "Teaching to grow'. One comes from within and the other from without
From Nepal, Kathmandu

In other words mentoring is like holding a mirror, while coaching is like telling where the mistakes are and also how to correct them.

Perhaps the easiest model to use is to think of coaching as not requiring any content, it's simply a process. It empowers people to find their own way through an issue. Mentoring requires the person doing the mentoring to have content knowledge of the area that they're talking to their client about (e.g. growing a business"). It's not as black and white as this, but it's a useful distinction to make.

Hi all, Monitoring is included into coaching => we need more efforts for coaching than monitoring Regards Youssef
