hi i just want to know about the ESI smart card and what are the benefits, how the employee can use that card

ESI smart card contains full details of the insured (employee) with photograph. The insured can use it for medical facilities from ESI hospitals situated anywhere in India. Similarly, the family of the employee will also get medical benefits from any dispensary. Using the smart card the employee can also view the cash benefits due, contributory particulars etc.

Every ESI Branch Office will conduct the ESI Smart Card Photo Camps in its jurisdiction. Generally ESI Branch Office Manager/Inspector who was entrusted with this work will contact all the employers under their jurisdiction....

employers has to submit the revised declaration forms in respect of all existing employees and new employees to the branch office or @ the photo camp (they may be conducted at the employer's premises or at the convenient place decided by the ESI Offices) to facilitate in capturing the family photos of the Insured Persons, being biometric card, they will capture the fingerprints of the family members also..

Each Insured Person will be provided with 2 cards, one for the Insured Person and another card for their familly members, as this can be utilised at any dispensary through out india...............which is HISTORIC CHANGE IN ANY GOVT. SERVICE ORGANISATION...

ESI smart card is a unique card with tamper proof biometric card like ATM card issued by Banks. Two cards will be issued by the ESI Department after capturing the finger prints and photograph of all the family members mentioned in the declaration form and they will issue two cards one for the Insured person and another for his family members. Both the Insured persons and their family members are at liberty to avail the medical facilities available under the ESI Scheme through their chain of dispensaries/hospitals/referral hospital through out India. Even if the employee changes from one employer to another employer there is no need to change the card. The change in employment details will be reflected through online facility. This is indeed a very good card introduced by the Corporation
