dear gautam,
there are two norms.
one is TAC norms. actually the tariff adivisory committee does not exist now, where as their norms are the basics for fire related calculations in India.
second is NBC - National Building code. this refers to the construction of the building, with the safety features.
i'm attaching the NBC code (fire related pages alone) for ur & other friends ref.
by the way, for which industry r u looking for?
if u want more details related to fire extinguishers, then u should go through -
IS 2190 (selection of fire extinguishers)
IS 2189 (for fire alarm systems)
apart form this for fire extinguishers u can look into NFPA standard also. the std. no. is NFPA 10. if u visit NFPA web site, u can have a free look of this std. but u need a flash player to view this.

Also we are in need of details of reputed consultants who can carry out Risk assesement of Big Chemical plant instalations having diverse production facilities like fertilizers, petrochemicals at one loaction ??
