What kind of organization is it ??
Does it have any HR deptt. ??
If so, then you can put up a representation/grievance against the superior who ordered this illegal act of forcible confinement, apart from seeking legal remedies as it amounts to a criminal offence, so that such acts are not repeated with you or anyone else.
What if the victim employee is a woman or a young mother ?!
Such acts indicate a feudal, oppressive mindset; and should be condemned and stopped forthwith.

It is a big company and the problem is not related to the company, we have a well established HR Department but we work in the regional offices and there we have no HR's. As per the company policy the working hours are 9.30 to 5.30 but on a routine basis we stretch the working hours and I don't have any problems with that. However if I don't achieve the target for a particular day, my boss uses foul language and then forces me to stay in the office. What should I do, should I talk to the HR or the RSM. I don't know what to do as most of the decisions are in the region are taken by regional sales manager and my boss is very close to him. Leaving the job is not an option. Please give your valuable insights.
