This is good to see that today our some of our HR professionals are looking forward to motitivating workers. This is good sign for our industery, its really a good time to work on this by partcipative management. One should go to them personally, ask about their family, sometime wish them on their birthday or any other occasion. Try to instill some good feeling of trust and belongingness into them so that they feel part of the organisation.

As mentioned by some of the friends above, money is not the only motivator. In my opinion, it is not the real motivator because it is a hygiene factor. If you do not increase the money, it may lead to de-motivation, but if you increase it, there is no guarantee that the motivation will increase. At the most, it may increase temporarily.
You can also consider conducting a diagnostic study to find of the level of engagement with the organization, identify sources of demotivation and involve all the levels in taking the corrective measures in the the change process.
You need to create a sense of ownership or engagement among employees. Involve them in the decision making processes-decisions not at the board level but in the matters which affect them. Develop Communication Management System for keeping the employees informed at all the levels. Some of the quality initiatives eg QCs, suggestion schemes or TPM can be considered.

may be you need to discuss with them and find out what is the real problem.receiving payment is not the solution to increase the production.u could also try some welfare activities or even identify the best team performance or best employer.

I started a book of the month club among the salaried workforce and we've just completed our 1st book. The language establishes a foundational concept amongest the society of folks who have educated themselves to the managers' expectations. Next you hold people accountable for their actions. Be honest with them as adults. The 80% or so of people who want to do the right things are waiting for you to handle the 20% who don't. Avoiding things and hoping they go away because you listen to a tape or watch a video is not going to happen. Next show lots of enthusiasm yourself everytime you go out on the floor. The final thing...get out on the floor. The rule here is to let the people know you're there and are interested in their jobs.

No Doubt, I do agree with all the techniques of HR and Systems and Policies and Procedures. But apart from these all meet him / them personally and ask for the reason as to why and where he/they felt that they could not deliver the expected output. Make them feel about their potential and create the environment as why they/their output is important to the benefit of individual and the organization as a whole. Talk all possible positive things.
Get gelled with them while talking be one of them while talking. It may work but only to understand as to why he/they are not satisfied and then find the remedies to overcome the issue. But remember don't make any commitment.

first month on the job, as a manager and you can not seem to fit in with those veteran employees. You were transfered to a division or department you never have worked in, but your background qualifies you to take the assignment. You try to communicate, but they do not seem to let you in on what is going on. At best, all you get is the basic operational issues, but some issues have arisen and you can not seem to get the employees under you, to respond appropriately to solve the problem.

i must say that first u need to understand y the employee required motivation if u do it regularly through various ways. Motivation activity is not for one or two days problem, the employer always try to keep the employee motivated through involvement,rewards,feedback,working place survey and good communication.
if u want to keep the business sucessful then u need to always used the above point along with employee.
