Good & Informative posting .
Could it possible you to post SOP /Work Instruction for Safe Welding & Cutting?/

The photo was taken from our site only... We are following the safety measures as shown in the picture - safe... We have send it all concerns with a request to adopt what shown as safe, that means we are using it as a referance materail for others to follow...
Can you explain why you can't use this particular photo as a referance.

Dipil Kumar V

Yes Exactly ......
During our USFDA audit , Auditor from USA also insisted for displaying Photographic Instructions ......
Will attri_nishchal explain us why photo cannot be used as a reference in any industry ?

Hai all,
How do we know the safety of the Cylinder .Is it worthy to be used?
So there must be details of
1. when it was pressure tested ?
2.What pressure it was tested?
3.Date when tested?
4.When due for next survey etc.
Safety warnings must be posted on it.If there is no proper washer inside the connector it may leak and it has many times.
Safety Checks to be displayed as and when we receive the cylinder ,wht needs to be checked
Best regards

Dear Dilip,
I appreciate your initiative - it is a very good attempt.
Can you just take a little more effort and think –
1. Is it not necessary to barricade the area around to avoid a passer by or mobile equipment creating a problem – If you ask me I insist for those ?
2. Is it not necessary to have a fire extinguisher within three meters of these cylinders ?
I am sure with those in the picture your presentation would be almost perfect.
Think about it and if you feel good about my suggestions pl. try to introduce such concerns in your future endeavors.

Dear All
Ensure your gas supplier are conducting various test as per gas cylinder rules and maintaining records as mentioned below:
1. Name of the manufacturer and owner
2. Cylinder Serial number/rotation number if different.
3. Speification to which the cylinder conforms
4. Test reports and certificates furnished by the manufacture, if avilable
5. Test pressure
6. Maximum working pressure
7. Water capacity
8. Date of the last hydraulic stretch test and name of the testing station
9. Tare weight of the cylinder
10. Variation, if any, in the tare marked on the cylinder and actual tare at the time of hydrostatic stretch test.
11. Name of gas
12. Remarks, if any
We can cross check all the above with the supplier prior accepting cylinder is the only way to ensure that we getting proper safe gas cylinder for use.

Dear Sir
Thanks a lot for your inspiring comments.
We are having a system of Hot Work Permit. Which is applicable, if the hot works (Welding or Gas Cuttineg) is carried out within 5metre radoius of flammable materails... In this the provision for FIRE WATCH is compulsory...
And we are having a practise of barricading the below area if the gas cutting work is at height...
With regards,
Dipil Kumar V
