Dear seniors,
Please clarify the PF ceiling amount for an employee who joined the organization on 4th and his da+basic is more than Rs 6500, for that given month.
My payroll software is dividing this 6500 for number of days of in the month and "PF employee contribution" is getting calculated only for the numbers present days.

If you do not contribute or give coverage to an employee whose salary at the time of his joining is more than Rs 6500 and whereas the date of joining is somewhere in between the month so that the salary for the first month will be less than Rs 6500 and due to which the payroll automatically deducts EPF, you have to either manually calculate his salary for that first month or do some adjustment in the system so that no PF will be deducted from the employee.

Thank you very much Madhu Sir, i am sorry for the mistake in my question, it should be employers contribution instead of employee contribution.
Just wanted to know whether the ceiling amount of 6500 to calculate the employers PF contribution remains constant, or will it wary proportionately depending upon the employees DA+BASIC for the given month.

Rs.6500 is the ceiling amount which cant vary, but the employer’s contribution may vary according to the basic+da of employee wereas its % contribution always remains same i.e. 12%.....

It is not mandatory that employer's contribution should be restricted to a salary of Rs 6500. If the employer is willing to contribute on a higher salary the ceiling of Rs 6500 will not apply.

hi sam,
What i understand from your querry is that u joined the organisation on 4 of the month. Correct. If it is correct, u will be eligible for pay and allowances from 4 of the month for that particular month in which u joined the organisation. As regards, contribution towards PF, u can make your contributions to the extent of 100% towards PF.
Regards.
