Dear Ranuagg
HR is truly a vast field and so is most of the things is life which seem to have no end.
However in all companies small or big; Sourcing Talent - Salary Negotiation (Recruitment) - Employee Relations/Dispute Handling - Employee Performance Analysis- Statutory Procedures (Compensation & Benefits) are some common activities of HR. It is upto you to decide which kind of job fascinates you. Good Luck..

Dear Ranuagg,
First of all decide in which role you want take-up and develop in next 5-10 years----
1) Hr- Core--KRAs--a)end to end recruitment, b) Employee induction, c) Employee gravitation c) offer/appoint letter role out, d) joining formalities Etc.
2) Hr- generalistics-- KRAs a) All legal compliance, b) Statutory norms c) overall Hr Process job role. d) communicate to various legal bodies i.e labour commissioner etc e) Labour law Etc f) IR/PR
3) some Co. also introduce an additional HR role i.e. HR-Admin.
Now a days HR dept has been decentralized into more or less as discussed above.
If anybody wants to be into HR core he/she has to chose the option (HR-Core) stated above.
In general all the MNcs are having more or less same structure...
