Induction Process which I had undergone at one of the best organizaiton in India, was like this...
They organized my meetings with all Department Heads for 30-40 min each, where they would take me through their department, organization structure, people, their responsibilities, how their department function with respect to my dept.
Thuys each of the dept was introduced, this was a week long process, then they made me visit their various branch offices in the city.
Overall wonderful experience of knowing the entire organization within a short possible time.

Induction or Orientation sessions are organised to educate new joinees on company vision, mision, values culture, policies & procedures, processes, people. Senior managemen team takes this forum as an opportunity to set expectations from all new joinees.

These sessions are created in advance (Preparation of Induction schedule). Calenders are booked for presentors and shared.

Invite is sent to Employee, his supervisors in case ID is not created, to project managers and to presentors. All attempt should be made to ensure that full attendance is achieved (Time is money :))

Depending on the project urgency you can plan for the number of days these session can last. Induction session in our company last for 2 days. You can make this session more interesting by including games, solving case studies, role playing exercises etc. You can speak to advertising agencies to create a corporate presentation with the aid of visual and audios and the same can be presented on the first day if the number of joinees are less.

In many companies, attending corporate induction is mandatory from compliance point of view and so HR and project managers should ensure that new joinees go through this process without any delay.

HR Induction process is all about aligning the lateral hires and freshers to the organizations. This may include several things such as:
a. Communicating organization values, culture, Vision and Mission statements
b. Communicating the organization history, the leadership team, the organization structure etc
c.Imparting knowledge on organizational processes, procedures and policies. Introducing them to the key support people of the organization such as facility, user id's, network help, transport, finance team etc
d. Inducting them into specific function, clearly setting the expectation from new hires, setting up the KRA's (This may happen when the resource joins the team)
e. There could be other components based on the industry the resource is working and roles they play.

Induction is a complete process which is based on on 3P's

P=People ( Structure of the Orgn & Business Model)

P=Product ( What do we produce or wat is our product)

P=Process ( What is the method we follow to produce , sale and service our customer )

You need to have a Induction Process properly documented , which shall include the objective behind the Induction Programme , What type of Induction will be required for Tecnical or Non Technical people , Duration of Induction , Feedback back process from the new joinee and than the evaluation after three months by the immediate superior .

For us we follow the following process :

1) One week before the candidate join mail is sent to all the team members of HR / Admn / IT for avalability of the following on day one

a) V Card

b) Email ID

c) Board Line connection

d) Sitting arrangement

e) Joining Kit (Check List of all the documents in the joining kit along with product Manuals / Forms for personal file / HR policies as applicable/ Induction Schedule / Bank account opening forms such 20 items are there )

We begin with the Induction schedule which actually a ISO Controlled document . HR starts the Induction first and than different other department and Business Lines . We have two days of general Induction and one full day of functional Induction . For Factory it is different . On completion we take feedback and than after three months we do the evaluation of Induction .
