Dear All,
Please clear my following doubts:
a. Who is responsible to get registered with the concerned authority as per BOCW act - principle employer or contractor.
b. If principle employer is already registered as per the said act wheather individual contractors working under him are also required to get themselves registered as per BOCW act?
Regards,
Bhaskar.

Dear As per the rule Principal Employer is responsible for BOCW Registeration, But most of the subcontractors are getting their BOCW registeration by their own. Thanks

The responsibility of Registration under BOCW Act lies with the Contractor only and whatever cess the contractor makes should be reimbursed by the Principal Employer.
The subcontractors are not required to register under BOCW Act or pay the BOCWW Cess.

Dear All,
As per my understanding, the Principal Emp is liable for registration when it carries on building work, without engaging contractor/s.
But whenever, contractor/s is/are engaged, the contractor is responsible for the registration under BOCW Act.
Further, the reimbursement of CESS Amount will depend upon the contract/s between the parties.
