First of all, hats off to this forum. We are just starting a company and were struggling with structuring of various HR related items. Learnt quite a bit by following the discussions on this forum which helped us frame most of our policies. Thanks.
We are in the process of structuring our leave policy and one question that came up was the minimum time an employee needs to put in before he can avail the PLs accumulated in his acct. Is it a standard practice to have a minimum service of 1 yr before the employees can avail this?
Thanks in advance for your response.

Hi Kannan,
The PL/EL are provided to the employees, as the count of leaves allotted (from joining) must be maintained with HR, but this leave can only be availed by the employee on his/her confirmation.
Apart from EL/PL, casual leaves(CL) are also allotted to the employees which they can use with immediate effect of joining.
The leave policy can be designed such a way that only the balance EL/PL are carried forward to the next year.
