Hi all Please help on How to conduct a training programm for a 5star hotel staff? Thanks anisha
1st April 2010 From India, Jaipur
Dear Anisha,

The details that you have given are too inadequate.

What is your target? Is training itself is your target or raising the service level is your target?

Have you measured Guest Satisfaction Index (GSI)? If yes then what is the level? What is the gap? Why is this gap? Lack of what knowledge/skills cause this gap?

99% hotel staff is trained only for guest handling, grooming and etiquettes, housekeeping etc. Their vision does not go beyond all this. You can go beyond all this.

Large number of training programmes are conducted in the banquet halls of the star hotels. Why no hotelier thinks that if particular programme is fit for particular industry, it should be applicable to hotel staffs also.

You can train your managers on managerial competencies, negotiation skills, conflict handling skills, decision making skills, organisational communication and so on. All these skills are absolutely essential for all the managers wherever they work whether in 5 star hotel or otherwise.

Ok...

Hi Anisha,
Can you be little more specific please. Like,
1) who are your target audience, Dept. Managers, or regular staff etc.,
2) what is the basic need for this training. Is it to increase your service level or increase your business.
3) is this going to be a internal training programs or external.
if you answer these question then Surely I can help you.
I have conducted Training programs in many start hotels and got a good experience in hospitality industry.
I am currently conducting training programs at Senora beach Resorts, Vizag.
Let me know if you require my help.

This trng is internal as per now.
One more thind I wld like to know from you that I am doing a course from ISTD for trng & devlopment, if I want to join someone as in a trainee staff to learn more regarding T&D or as a assistant I can join someone, so that I learn more on this. Do you anybody who can help me in this?

Dear Friends,

Greetings of the day!

In Hospitality Industry first of all following things should be in place:

# Training Calander.
# Training Passport
# Competency Mapping
# KOP's/ P&P's and SOP's
# Personal Training Records
# For the different level of training you should have Training Policy.
# Training Manuel should be developed, followed by presentations and Video Clips.
# For the effectiveness of training, apart from Training Manager each department should have DLC's ( Departmental Training Coordinators).
# Also apart from general Soft Skill Trainings, lot of concentration should be given to technical training, cross training & practical training sessions.
# During Induction for new joiners lot of topics can be added on Product Knowledge, Safety, Company Ethics and Goals, Grooming, General Do's & Dont's, Etiquette and Manners etc, also a induction handbook will be a good idea along with FAQ's.
