Hi,
I recently got a job offer in an HR Outsourcing firm, they are offering me a position in their HR Shared Services. I will not be working in the internal HR Department of that Company. I really doubt if this experience of mine in HR Shared Services will really be counted in HR or not???
Please help, any suggestions are welcome!!
Regards

Hi Neha,
Your experience in your HR shared services would be counted provided the kind of role you handle. Companies, they might have seperate team for corporate/internal-HR and HR shared services. But it doesnt mean that peopel who are in HR shared services, their experience would not get counted. I would suggest you to take it further.

Hi Neha,
Subramanian suggestion is too valid. B'coz the field of HR is too wide and it also include HR Shared services. The experience of HR Shared services will be counted for future Core HR related jobs. So, just do your best in the current designation.

Hello Neha,
What's the role you are supposed to be given once you join?
If it's related to Core HR, then Subramanian's advice is definitely valid. If you are not sure, suggest ask them so that you can make your decision--but pl don't ask them with leading questions [like--will I be working in Core HR area, etc]. The chances are you may be given the answer you WANT TO HEAR.
All the Best.

Greetings,

Which area in HR Outsourcing would you be working at? There are many areas including, Recruiting, Benefits administration, document administration,
E-learning, Payroll, Insurance, background verification and etc. Which area would you work? Most of the time these would require you remote support and knowledge in HR and Legal . It may not include direct interactions with employees, but would include all the back end areas. Please invest to learn what you deliverables would be? Once you have known it you need to understand how these could be connected with the HR experience.

You may ask the hiring manager how to connect this experience to future possibilities. Incase you join in, no matter what you are told, make the most of what you learn.

Ideally , HR Shared services is not taken as right fit. But there are people who have switched from HRSS to core HR. It all how much you can learn and how you would present what you have learnt , at the interview.

Wish you all the best !

Regards,
