sir,
i would like to try atleast.
by accident analysis we could find or trace a person who is regually being injured.or a place where regular similar types of acciends or injuries are observed. than we can say that this place or person is accident prone.
for eg.,suppose some person is transfered from HR to maintenance, than as he is not use to use tools and acquented with other jobs than very frequently he will get injured & if it continues for long time. suppose he is shifted again to some other department & same senirio contiues than he is accident prone person.
May be he is not physically fit ,
or lack of knowledge is there
so identifiying his training needs & potential he can be shifted.
same is the case with place also. we a walkway is there & very frequent slip & trip reports comes from that area it is accident prone area.
so we can search what is the reason of sliplyness, is there leakage or something?
i hv just tried to made a attempt.plz rectify me.

Dear Sir
My comments on Accident Proneness
Commenly we can say or understand by this term is that the freequency of accidnet is high or chances of occurance of accidnet is high...
But when we relating this word to a person, we can say, that person is more expose to accidents may be because of his behaviour, overconfident, exictement, etc.
Hope my idea is somewhat clear.

Dear Friends,
Pl.see the attachment.
There are two workers. They are assigned to do the same kind of work every day. Just say lifting an average weight and placing it at a specified location.
Sundays are holidays. Every Monday both A and B report for work in time. They start work normally. In few minutes B is taken to Medical with injury to his foot from falling of the weight he was handling. Next 5 days he is on Medical leave. Again he reports for work on next Monday. Meets with same kind of an accident/injury, taken to hospital and the cycle continues.
This man B is accident prone.
Do you agree with it or not.
Kindly post your views. We will learn all about accident proneness in a simple way.

Dear Sir
In such a condition which you stated, before announcing a person accidnet pronness, we must check whether he is capable of doing this job or not? For that system to be put in place, how we can do this? By screening test while awarding employment or any such things.
Then only we can come into any conclusion. The cartoon clearly shows that the person A is fit enough to do the lifting, where us B is not fit enough to perform the lifting.
Waiting for more comments from you.

Hello Kesava
In Australasia the majority of safety practitioners, safety lecturers and senior mgt believe that the term accident prone is a fallacy therefore we do not condone or sanction the use of it. From managements viewpoint, it focuses attention on individuals and blame rather than a system or process failure. This perpetuates accidents, creating industrial problems, poor morale, etc. Employees likewise don’t own an obligation to work safely if they believe they will suffer accidents
Accident prone was seen as an early safety model shortly after the first world war and early 1950's but was discounted for many of the above reasons
Hope this is helpful

Dear Friends,
All that is about accident prone.
Thanks Mr. Ron you are absolutely right. The capabilities and limitations of individual differ with which their behaviour too. Bcause of this; in a group some individuals will have greater share of accidents and they are usually termed accident prone. If we check we can see that this is not only in the case of accidents but failures, ineffeciency, poor output, poor timing, and often causing headache for the co-workers and supervisors.
In a nutshell: PHYSICAL, PHYSIOLOGICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, PSYCHOPHYSICAL CHARACTERITICS IN INDIVIDUALS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR A CERTAIN MODE OF BEHAVIOR OF PEOPLE WHO ARE TERMED ACCIDENT PRONE!
