Mahesh,
In your first post in this thread you used the words "Hope this would be of little use...". I think what you wanted to convey was " Hope this would be of SOME use...". Little use means NO use at all.
As far as IM is concerned, all of us should use the techniques only if we have substance in us. Otherwise people will see through us in the long run. Good work always gets recognised but sometimes it may take time. IM only lets you speed up that process of getting that recognition faster .

Sajan

Hi Mahesh, This is Dr.Murali Krishna,Retired Professor ,I am proud to inform that I learnt from your IM ppt about IM ,I wish that you have to continue with different things. Dr.Murali Krishna
Hi Mahesh, The presentation is very slick. If your know what an elevator pitch is would you elaborate pls.
Hi,
Sorry to disappoint you there however, talking of "Impression Management"..... I couldn't agree with it.....
A) Its easier to create a great impression, but its difficult to live it all along
Do not set unrealistic expectations
B) Its better to be Assertive than being Deceptive
You may be successful with your dealings ... where you just want to create a Great First Impression [ref: MAGIC, Making A Great Impression on your Customer]
however. thats for Sales guys .....
To be "Effective" you need to be Dynamic & Honest and set realistic expectations during all your interactions ...be it the first or the last
The point is, Do you want to be Successful or Effective
Success is Just a milestone (Short-term)
to be Effective is amalgamation of all actions included and its impact on peoples perception about you (Long-term)
So you have a choice ........

But this is what really going truly, madly deeply in my office and am listening to this all in silence.Coz here all are trying for Impression Management rather than trying to become role models/leaders in their functional areas.:) very good experience for me.

That was a good one. We should extract the essence from this and improve ourselves. Thanks a lot. Keep posting such ppt’s and write up’s. Do you have any reference books on IM. Rgds
Dear Mahesh,
Your PPT on IM was thoughtful and practical, especially for persons who are talented but do no know how to show it. This presentation will be of great help for beginners; also it will be a refresher for thorough professionals. Keep up the good work...
In your post you have mentioned 'of little use' which means 'of no use'.
Rachel

Dear Mahr, I run a discussion group in Shanghai for people to practise their English. I would like to use your PPT if that is OK kind regards Susan
