Hello HR's,

I worked as an HR for 1.5 year in a India later i got married and moved to US.I want to start my career again offcourse in US.Iam totally blank and confused how to start my career.from last one year iam in US .Iam on H4 visa and my husband works for microsoft. Its been a year iam waiting for Green card and its not so easy to get now.Due to this recession there r no proper jobs available in market too. These my queries:

What are the different sources to start my HR career?

How to get H1 visa?

Is there any way to get out of this?

Shall i go for my higher studies or shall i wait for EAD or shall i do a course in SAPHR?

I feel iam wasting my time.i enjoyed a year and i think its time to think about my career. My hubby told me to concentrate on career. If iam in i would know what to do but now i dont know even a single step to do?

Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!

Noorie.(Hope to get soon response)

Dear noorieshahzadi,
The reason for your post is nothing but you are very much confused. If you are in a H4 visa hopefully your husband should be on a H1B visa. You are a dependent for him in papers. Again Has he applied for a green card? If he is issued with a green card, obviously you would also be covered in that.
Then don't mix up your visa things with your career hunt. You have lots of jobs in a moderate company who need HR for specific field. You shall just start looking for job, posting up in job portals, etc rather than worrying without any specific reasons.
still you have any doubts just message me in private...

Dear Noorie,
Please don't post more than one time for the same question. I left out one thing. SAP Course in US is very costly. You shall look for a job and then you can do some online course along with for better prospect... All the Best!

Hi Noorie,
Don't be perplexed.Whatever happens in your life be cool to face it.My suggestion as a HR there are lot of jobs available in spite of recession. All u have to do is just start hunting for the HR job.
As mahesh suggested don't mix up the visa things with ur career.Start applying & my best wishes 4 u.I will pray for u that u will get an excellent job in US in ur domain.

Thank u Mahesh.Yes my husband is in H1B visa and he applied for green card too and its in process.Iam on dependent Visa now and still waiting for EAD(Employment Authorization Document ) so that i can start my job hunt.Right now 2005 dates r in process and we applied in 2007.Dont know when these dates r going to update. Can i apply in job portals being on dependent Visa?
1. I agree to what Mahesh has to say about not mixing visa and career. Instead, I think if you are not yet authorized (No EAD) then probably you can take up freelancing jobs from various sources and start doing it, that will help you keep abreast with HR and polish your skills. These days their a lot of vacancy for HR content writing, even I was searching some time back. You can take up these jobs, though it won't pay you much but still, doing something is better than nothing.
2. No knowledge, here :-(
3. Lot of ways if put your grey cells to work!
4. Studies are always a good option. You can offcourse start doing studies that enhance your skills and at the same time you can work in part-time through internet. I am planning to prepare a sheet for part-time careers in HR, will let you know once I am done with it.
Noorie, you got inquire about this from some localite because their laws are different so only a local person can give a better opinion.
I hope this helps!
