What is being observed that just like addition to any other professional qualifications, HR was introduced. Earlier it used to be Personnel Management, where job was basically to keep personal records of the employee, prepare promotional and other benefit calenders.
Later the Personnel Management was renamed probably in Arjun Singh (as first HR Minister to the nation). Job became multifaceted. The professional teachings has been designed to get maximum output from Human-Resource of the organization and see to it that the employees to get the deserving share for their contributions. Better man machine layout, better man-power postings etc.
But on date these have taken back seat. The HR personnel are being used as errand runner for organizing meets, assisting top bosses in getting the spouse-run groups etc.
Indeed very regretful.

Dear "Super-M", I think that discussing the things which deters the growth and prospects of the HR professionals is desired. It seems U R not interested or desirous in critical analysis. Without any analysis the cause of problem cannot be analyzed.
Only goodies are to be posted here then I think I'd better withdraw.

I was just trying to point out that through an open window, one can see the dirt and mud or one can choose to see the beautiful sights of green and blue sky. One is free to make one's choice.
So, since you have started this thread, you can share your true experiences of "errand runner for organizing meets, assisting top bosses in getting the spouse-run groups etc." as stated in your post.
Then the members can get around with "critical analysis" (as pointed out by you).
