My company has provided me only a resignation letter. Are relieving letter & a resignation letter same? My company gave me resignation letter alone. Is that sufficient? As the company asked me to resign I was in a shock I didn't check the documents properly. The dates of resignation and date of relieving are same in the resignation letter. Will it affect my career? Please help me.

I would like to make you clear about two terms:
1) Resignation- it is letter when employee takes exits because of his own conditions. Means that if you were not satisfied, you simply resigned. It is given by employee to employer.
2) Relieving letter- this letter is basically written letter given by company showing that now no liability from you or company have for each other. Hence both are free of their services.It is given by company to employee.
And Dates being same wont make any affect.

How your company gave you resignation letter ? They must have asked you to submit resignation for your decent departure from the company and inturn basing on your resignation letter, you must have been relieved from the company. This will facilitate you to take experience certificate for your future emplyment with clean remarks. There is no harm if the date of resignation and date of relief are same. Only thing the prospective employer may ask you the reasons for such urgent exit, for which you should prepare to give reasonable answer, without blaming the previous employer.
It is a basic principle that in any interview you should not criticise the earlier employer.

I’m sorry it’s actually acceptance of resignation letter and not resignation letter given by the company.

My earlier reply holds good, if it is acceptance of resignation. Basing on the letter given by them, you ask for experience certificate, which would be useful, for future trials. Best of luck.

Hi Akash,
Why the compnay provided you the resignation letter. Resignation letter is given by the employee when he wishes to leave the company and vice-versa company provides the End of Services contract /End of Training/End of Probation or Termination Letter to the employee for the extreme cases.
Date of relieving is your last working day in the organization. And you must ask first of all how can they give you a resignation letter?? Or you clear your doubts first.
Second thing, you must ask them to provide Expereince letter that will clearly mention your Name, Designation, Date of Joining and Last working day.

Dear Akash,
Upon resignation the Company conveys to the employee that his resignation has been accepted , & finally when dues clearances from both sides are completed the company issues relieving letter.
1) (ACCEPTANCE OF RESIGNATION), where in standard important points included are - Notice Period, Leave in Lieu of Notice Period, Payment in lieu of Notice period, Dues clearances.
2) (RELIEVEING LETTER) It only mentions the fact that you were employed with the company in the capacity of........., employment period details, Date of Relieving. This can also be used as Service/ Experience Certificate.

They can give only one letter for both purposes experience cum resignation acceptance letter . Even we are following this one now . — — Thanks & Regards, Vani
