Hello Seniors
My friend is working as Executive HRD and have total 4 years of experience in this field. Her profile is mainly of HR Generalist.
The current company is not paying the salary as per her expectation, coz the salary structure of most of the staffs are very less. And also here there is no scope of Growth in career.
Now she got a offer from one of the estd company for the position of Executive Assistant to Director. Profile is for HR activities - Recruitment & other admin work [includes Bookings - Ticket, Hotel, E Mails, Drafting of Letters]. When she confirmed with one of the MD [old friend], he told that its a good designation, and you will get good rise in your future.. But she dont like the designation, as it sounds like secretary.
Hence, please guide whether she should take up the job of Executive Assistant or wait for other opportunity..........

Dear Roshni,
There is no cause of worry about designation right now. Designations are never permanent in any organisation, These are changed either in the interests of the company, or by influence of some one interested. But your friend should not think that the designation would be changed just to fulfill her desire before she joins. She can get that changed to any attractive and impressive designation after convincing her boss after some time she works with him/her only.

So, what is the harm in joining the post now and getting the designation changed later after working for some time? This would also give impression to others as if she switched over to some other attractive post after working for some time on the post of Executive Assistant to Director.

Hello Roshni,
The designation issue is less important. The vital part is, your friend have to have interest in the job profile of Executive Asstt. The mentioned profile does not seem to be HR fully, but most of the secretarial jobs are covered viz. hotel booking, ticketing, drafting letters. Besides, you can't ask a company to change designation to suit you.
She has Generalist experience, she can wait for another opportunity elsewhere.
You can ask your friend to take careful steps.
