Business Mentor, Consultant And Trainer
It’s a good initiative you have taken.
To start with you can prepare and give presentations on:
1. Email- writing tips.
2. Communication skill
It might be of help…..

1. With my 28 years of experience (only), I can confidently say that:
a) Business writing skills can be improved only if your managers have good business writing skills.
b) Your managers should encourage you to write the drafts. They should correct the drafts and tell you why the correction was needed.
c) To start with you must take training on "Business Writing Skills". You must know rules of business writing.
2. Business writing is an art. E-mail and SMS lingo has undermined its importance. Secondly,
d) Whenever I conducted training on e-mail etiquettes, I had explained to the participants through stories what happened when particular rule was not followed. Yet when I started taking the test, 1 out of 10 was in position to write correctly.
e) In one of the companies there was great resistance to take training on e-mail etiquettes even for half day. Even MD had same opinion. He had told that we do not want "journalists" here. Yet on completion of training participants gave feedback that they did not anticipate the depth of the subject hence there should have been full day training.
f) Downloading something from citehr is no solution. Abundant material is available on this site or on Google itself but the knowledge did not translate into the skills. If you check various posts, quality of the writing is far inferior. Why even old members could not improve quality of their writing?
3. I am ex-Air Force. In Air Force, our senior officers always told us that winning war on the ground is easier than winning war on the paper. Never get defeated on the paper! (war 1971 is classic example of this - what we won in the battle field was lost in 1972 Shimla agreement. The then prime minster of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto hoodwinked nicely the then prime minister of India Mrs Indira Gandhi.)
4. You may say that I have given irrelevant example of 1972 Shimla agreement. However, make a note that in business, we do not record our losses. But in diplomacy it gets recorded.
All the best!
