Not for all. Most of the private organizations didn’t declare till now. But if government is too keen on holiday.. they will declare it.

But does the Govt. of AP has authority to declare it a Holiday under section 135-B of the Representation of Peoples Act, 1951 ?
Section 135-B speaks only about Parliament and Assembly elections, it does not speak of local body elections. I strongly feel that Govt. has overreached their authority to declare a holiday.

Dear Punnam,
I am also of the same opinion. According to the section 135-B of the Representation of Peoples Act, 1951 wear to declare paid holidays on Parliamentary & Assembly elections. The Govt. of A P through its Chief Inspector of Shops & Establishment exercising his powers under section 31 sub-section 2 has declared this holiday. We are to examine this also.

Thank you R.N.Khola
Govt. declared holiday under section 31 sub-section 2 stating that it has to declare paid holiday under 135-B of Peoples Act 1951. To be on the safe side, we declare holiday today.
Next time, if this situation repeats i.e. (local elections), as a good corporate citizen, we will give flexibility to vote and come or go early to vote. Finally, individual employee has to deliver their citizen responsibility of voting and should not expect to get paid to deliver their responsibility.
Once again thank you for your opinion.
