If the employee's strength is under 20, there is no mandatory for pf coverage. However, as per recent news, the committe is intending to raise the ceiling of wages for pf coverage from Rs.6500 to Rs.10000 and the Minimum employees from 20 to 10. So, if you are in personnel/HR department, send a note on this to the management

As per the Pf Act 1952 it is applicable if 20 or more employees has worked with an organization in the any one of the past 12 months.

If during the period of 5 yrs in any one month the total staff strength is 20 or more than 20 PF is applicable to your org and you have to register your organisation with regional PF office.And when the total staff strength become less than 20 than also PF is still applicable.

At the present manpower strength ur company is statutorily not bound to introduce PF. However if at any point of time since the set up of the Company there were 20 or more employees then ur company is statutorily bound to cover employees under PF since that point of time when it had 20 or more employes. Further if ur company has branches in any part of of the country excepting JK and total strength covering all branches exceed 20 or more then PF is applicable to you irrespective of the fact whether a single unit or branch has less than 20 employees.

If the employee strength is 10+ Then registration of PF is must if its less than 10 employees then company can go with an voluntary registration.
What ever the salary might be PF is applicable for all according to Min Wages Act Slabs depending upon the fixation of Basic + DA

Just to add icing to the cake.....
For PF to be applicable there must be 20+ employees working in your organization,
Your organization should be "Factory" according to Factories Act 1948.
And the basic salary of your employees should be 6500/- pm below for mandatory PF applicability, irrespective of yours being a Pvt or Public Ltd Company.

Hi PF Act is applicable to ltd, pvt ltd and proprietary concern if the no. of employees are 20 including casual employees, security, contract employees. Regards Sudha
