My friend is working a company as a HR. and he is facing some problem to take trade union, there some workers join trade union and trade union misguide him, now those workers create problem for employer, his employer is good, he always attention to take his employees happiness.
now employer says my friend to break that unionism with good HR tactice.
So plz guide me, what I suggess my friend for that big problem.

The matter is not that simple, as you or the employer of your friend may be thinking. It is like, when a lion tastes the human blood, that frequently starts visiting country side and lives start getting lost. Similarly, when employees start tasting the power of trade unions they don't care for the management, if management is not employee-friendly.



The matter would need proper examination on situational analysis, how far the trade unionism has penetrated in the organisation, what leadership styles and employee relationships are existing in the organisation and what would need be developed and implemented, what are the actual problem areas and the basic reason therefor. SWOT analysis may also be needed to be made and weaknesses to be addressed properly before some tangible becomes possible to be arrived at as a matter of achieving long term cordial relations between the management and employees.



Any crude method employed by your friend or the employer may create much more complications and financial loss through the loss of man-hours in strikes or go slow etc., tactics of the employees, not only for your friend, but also for the organisation. On failure, your friend may be labelled as an inefficient HR man.

The management therefore would need to appoint a consultant, amply experienced in trade union matters to examine the case very carefully to arrive at the ways and means to avoid any industrial dispute or the danger of strike by not earning wrath of the trade union and its associated employees.



He may however try developing better employee relationships so that the employee may not feel the need a trade union.
