Hello Ash Methew .. u r right ...
I have two types of woollen clothes ... one is light warmer and the other is pure woollen .. ie Jacket .. apart from that I am having Muffler .. which I use when I feel more cold ..
If I sit in my chamber I use the light warmer one BUT when I enter System Room I use woollen Jacket with Muffler .. and it really helps ...
Now a days centralised AC concept has come where system rooms are having more cold pockets where u shud enter with ur own arrangments ,as system rooms temp. is fixed by the vendor .. say like DATA CENTRE part .. it has to be as low as possible , recommended by the verndor .More over online maintenance is also required when m/c is running for the same .
Whatever it may be , what Doctors suggest that joint pains , cough & cold are the normal phenomena due to AC.. It may call other complications in our future .. so what prevention is better than CURE .. 8-).

Check your AC condition if its dirty and clogged with dust, it has nothing to do with its being centralized. And yes wear proper clothes.

Asthma patient need not be worried about centralized ac as it removes dust and all pollen grains present in air. so it reduces chance of getting asthmatic attacks .you can request admin to clean filters periodically and all your machines and your lungs will be dust free. i am Dr. with 30 years working exp trust me your fear is cold air which might induced attack it is not so in a c in cold weather water molecules and pollen grains induces inflammatory reaction and not in ac .. so pl. remove fear..from your mind

Dear Ambika,
Try to get rid off Asthama First.
I prefer the problem will still long last until your day of retirement if you do not come out of disease.
Prefer Medication & Yoga. That will Keep you healthy.
centralise AC is Problem That I can understand But the Air conditioner are Provided to keep a comfortable environment in the Office .
You can request to have temperatures around 26°C. But do not complaint your managment again & again or they my ask/force you to leave the Job on unhealthy Employee Basis.

Hi Ambika,
Most of the offices these days are equipped with centralized AC. your problem is genuine. But all you can do in this case wou;d be to have caht with your immediate boss and prbly chnage a place where the cold is much lesser. Also try putting some cotton on your ears while working and drink lots of warm water. This might also help.

As being said by members, A.C in centralized state is common in all office environments, and I face the same problem of being badly hit by persistent cold and cough because of A.C.
I feel wearing a sweater / jacket to prevent being hit directly by more cold blows is better.
I m in fact being deteriorated because of this a.c problem.
I really feel glad to note that lots of more real issues which are important are covered here.
thanks to dear members,

Hiiiii I also have same problem ....Wat i do
Stick a hard cardboard with cellotape to the part from where the blow is directly coming to me . And put cottons in both the ears.
This will definitely help.Try it out

Your should talk to your management about this. The centralize AC plays an important role in spreading viruses so this can be your pick point & it also lead to reduction in performance due to unfavorable conditions which explain in ergonomics Just explain them this & you will rock in Org
Thanks & Regards
