Dear all, Can you please tell me whether, Daily contract worker will be given weekly off or not, If he works for 3 days ina month. Regards, Sunil 09701230888

If he works for 3 days in a month, give him wages for that three days only. The concept of weekly holiday is applicable only to those employees who work on a regular basis and in such cases, employee is eligible for one day off after every six days of work. However, if the wages is paid on a daily basis, the weekly holiday is taken as off without wages.

Dear Sir,
Can you please tell me if some workers are made to work without a weekly off, as they have been told that they are daily workers, but the payment is made to them on monthly basis.
No weekly holiday is being given to them. If demanded or taken, one day salary is deducted from them. The contractor has been awarded the contract for a term of one year.
What is the responsibility of the Principal Employer in such circumstances. ?

For monthly rated employees, one day off with wages after every six days of work is mandatory as per labour laws. The contractor is not empowered to deduct salary for the day of off. As principal employer you can intervene and direct the contractor to pay the employees for their weekly offs.

Dear Madhu Sir,
Even its monthly basis salary we are dividing monthly salary into 26 days and paying only for the worker's worked days. We are paying to contractpr also 26 days only as per our aggreement. is it correct??

Such employees will be daily rated employees and not monthly rated employee even if they are paid monthly. However, engaging the same workers on daily rate for a long period of time shall be deemed to be unfair under the provisions of the Industrial Disputes Act. Therefore, avoid such practice.
