if he has no other job offer on hand, then advise him to take it. but if he has a career in mind and wants to pursue his passion, he has to wait to get it. will take time though.
meanwhile, he can get into this job, learn and then take a call. also what did he specialise in his MBA? please be clear on this

from experience, its easier to deal with less educated or illiterate persons, they are willing to listen. i had a friend of mine, had completed MBA and said that he would join only as a Manager and no less.
people need to work their way up and experience adds value. degree is not the end of the road. the ones who fail to stay with the times and stop learning become the living dead. (people should read the character of Dr. Joe Pearson from my beloved Arthur Hailey's Final Diagnosis and his struggle with his junior Dr. Coleman)

thanks for the compliments. I would be honoured to be a high school dropout and mentioned in the same vein as Bill Gates, Henry Ford or Thomas Edison.
people with degrees/diplomas limit their opportunities. they think that this skill / job is best for me and don't look beyond the horizon. I have had kids with excellent marksheets and degrees struggling to stay / hold on to jobs.
in one of my jobs, there was this set of 3 guys who were selected and joined us. after the initial training period of 3 months, they were assigned their own desk and work. the 3 of them got scared and left without informing anyone. in fact, while we were discussing amongst ourselves about getting things done, these guys came with response which were outlandish and idiotic. we immediately realised that these kids were not cut out for the job and they proved us right.
lots of people with less education stay on their jobs or get new jobs, have no inhibition on taking different jobs/ roles and they do successfully. I always keep my mind open and take an unbiased view of things (well almost on being unbiased)
appreciate your comments - helps me introspect, may be you have a different approach to people and things. willing to have you as my high school teacher to guide me. game for it?

Please do give a clear post for us to help you or to give you suggestions..Then for your post, ask your friend to choose a line of his career. If he/she indeed wishes to move into some particular field (I don't know what was his/her specification in MBA) the ask your friend to do the same.
Remember that any fresher will get a job in any irrelevant field to his majors. Then again tell your friend that he/she is going t start his career. so do advice him and teach him about stability, which normally every fresher will understand (regret) at later stage..

2. Has he scored well as far as the subjects are concerned?
3. Has he got any interest/passion in the field on construction?
4. Did he attend any interviews for Civil related field?
5. What is his purpose in career ? What does he dream about himself when it comes to career? Is it someone signing huge projects in civil related areas?
If answers for questions 1 to 4 are either No or Don't know - then relax. He is safe as of now as he has a job in hand.
If the answers for questions 1 to 4 are positive, and seems to be attached to civil field - your friend should probably rethink on the offer.
The last question (5) will help in "Instant realisation"
However - please note that not all civil students land up in a civil job. Not all Mechanial Eng students land up with a job that matches their education..and not all B.com students stick with finance/ commers (some of them have become well known people in the technical field too)
Help your friend understand his Purpose of career. let him ponder over it and have a clarity in that. Then ask him to make his choice based on the answers he himself receives.
