Is it anywhere mentioned in labour laws that any worker working on National Hoilday is entitle for One Day additional hoilday (Paid Leave) apart from his regular Over Time Entitlement?

Matter regarding grant & taking of work from any worker on the national holiday is governed by either State Shops & Establishment Act or the State Industrial Employment ( National & Festival Holidays and Casual & sick Leaves) Act & therefore it is hereby advised to first finalize which of these Act is applicable to your unit & then go through the provision relating to payment of OT for working on this day.

Hi Mr. Khola,
My company is an MNC based in gurgaon. Thus punjab S&E Act would be applicable to us and not the national festival and Festival and Casual and Sick Leave Act. If we have to make employees work on 2nd october, we shall be required to pay them double the rate of their salary and cannot compensate with another day off.
Please let me know if my understanding is correct.
