PRINCIPLES OF TEAM DYNAMICS

1. TWO / MORE PEOPLE ( AN INDIVIDUAL CANNOT MAKE A TEAM )

2. INTERACTION ( AND COMMUNICATION )

3. A COMMON GOAL

PURPOSE OF TEAM WORK

1. HELPS PEOPLE ACCOMPLISH MORE THAN THEY COULD WORKING INDIVIDUALLY ECC 4; 9 ‘V 12, MAT 6 ; 7 ‘V 13

2. ALLOWS PEOPLE TO USE THEIR GIFTS, SKILLS AND TALENTS MORE EFFECTIVELY AS THEY COMPENSATE FOR ONE ANOTHER WEAKNESSES EPH 4 ; 11 - 12

NEED OF TEAM MEMBERS

1. NEED TO USE ONES SKILLS AND GIFTS TO ASSIST TEAM EFFORTS ( EVERYONE WANTS TO FEEL RELEVANT AND NEEDED )

2. NEED TO BE ACCEPTED BY THE OTHER TEAM MEMBERS

3. NEED TO PURSUE THEIR GOALS COMPATIBLE WITH PERSONAL GOALS ( SO THAT YOU CAN ENJOY WORKING WITH COMMITMENT AND FULL LOYALTY )

4. NEED TO REPRESENT PEOPLE AND GROUPS OUTSIDE THE TEAM.

KEYS TO BUILDING A PRODUCTIVE TEAM

A TEAM‘¦S GOAL / MISSION / VISION

- MUST BE UNDERSTOOD BY ALL OR ELSE SOME WILL WORK AT CROSS PURPOSES

- MUST BE ACCEPTED BY ALL

MUST BE CONSTANTLY REVISITED ( TO KEEP THE TEAM GOING )

QUALITIES OF A TEAM PLAYER

1. ADAPTABLE ( FLEXIBLE )

2. COLLABORATIVE

3. COMMITTED

4. COMMUNICATIVE ( LETS PEOPLE KNOW WHAT IN YOUR MIND )

5. COMPETENT ( TO BE A MODEL, YOU MUST BE GOOD AT WHAT YOU DO

6. INTERNATIONAL ( BEING PURPOSEFUL )

7. MISSION CONSCIOUS ( BE AWARE OF WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO )

8. PREPARED ( BE PREPARED ALWAYS

9. RELATIONAL ( REMEMBER YOU ARE IN A TEAM )

10. SELF IMPROVING ( IMPROVE SKILLS, LEARN TO EVALUATE YOURSELF

11. SELFLESS

12. DEPENDABLE ( RELIABLE )

13. DISCIPLINE ( TAKING CONTROL ON ALL YOUR LIFE, ABSOLUTE FREEDOM IS ABSOLUTE MADNESS )

14. ENLARGING ( ADDING VALUE TO OTHERS)

15. SOLUTION ‘V ORIENTED

16. TENACIOUS ‘V NOT GIVING UP EASILY

ROLES EACH TEAM MEMBERS PLAY

1. PRODUCTION ROLES- FOCUS ON THE TASK OR JOB

„« ORGANIZER ( IDENTIFIES, ASSIGNS, AND SCHEDULE TASK).

„« INITIATOR (OFFERS SUGGESTIONS, IDEAS, AND RECOMMENDATION)

„« DATA COLLECTOR (SEARCHES, SEEKS OUT INFORMATION)

„« FACILITATOR (HELPS MAINTAIN CONSTANT FLOW OF NEEDED COMMUNICATION)

„« EVALUATOR (OBSERVES THINGS AS THEY GO ON)

2. MAINTENANCE ROLES- FOCUS ON ASSISTING OTHERS ON THE TEAM

„« ENCOURAGER (BUILDS THE MORALE IN OTHERS)

„« FOLLOWER (ALLOW OTHERS TO TAKE THE LEAD AND USE THEIR ABILITY WHENEVER POSSIBLE)

„« NEGOTIATOR (ATTEMPTS TO MEDIATE CONFLICTS, READY TO COMPROMISE ISSUES)

„« PROTECTOR (SHIELDS TEAM MEMBERS FROM OUTSIDE OR INTERNAL INTERFERENCE/WRONG IMPRESSION)

„« SERVANT (ONE WHO DOES WHATEVER HE CAN TO MEET THE NEED OF EACH INDIVIDUAL, MAKES ALL THINGS WORK WELL EVEN IF HE HAS NOTHING CONCRETE)

3. ANTI-TEAM ROLES- FOCUS ON SELF

„« DOMINATOR (TRIES TO CONTROL ACTIONS, OPINIONS)

„« BLOCKER (DELAYS PROGRESS, SIDETRACKS, STOP PROGRESS)

„« ATTENTION SEEKER (TRIES TO GET PEOPLE TO FOCUS ON HIM, TO BE RECOGNIZED AS THE MAN ON THE TEAM)

„« AVOIDER (REFUSES TO DEAL WITH ISSUES AND BRING OTHER THINGS IN TO MUDDLE UP)

THE BIG QUESTION

WHAT ROLE ARE YOU PALYING?

CONCLUSION

TEAM WORK IS A CONSTANT BALANCING ACT BETWEEN PERSONAL INTEREST AND GROUP INTEREST. A GOOD TEAM CAN BE EXCITING, MOTIVATING, A PLACE TO BE; A BAD TEAM CAN BE DEMORALIZING, DEMOTIVATING, ETC.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD TEAM OR A BAD TEAM=

THE MEMBERS

SO PLAY YOUR PART WELL SO THAT THE TEAM COULD BE A GOOD PLACE TO BE.

Hi,
While talking about TEAM, we should remember :
- There is less of I and more of WE in a team,
- You cant spellthe word SUCCESS without the letter "U"
- The difference between RUNNINIG an Organisation and RUINNING an
organization is the letter "I"
