Dear All,

I have completed my MBA this year only and have got the Job in an IT company but now my problem is that the organisation I have joined is not paying salary to its employees on time and I have taken the feedback from the old employees but they are saying that situation has got worst from the last 7 months, I ask the management to pay 50% or 30% salary to all employees timely but they are not agreed, they are saying that they have shortage of fund so it is not possible to pay all in one shot, so we pay salary on request basis only. They also say that this is a challenge for you and if you give any solution and convince employees then it would be a biggest achievement for you.

Now, member pls. tell me if the employees basic need are not fullfilled then what activities in office I can do, infact management is saying that I am not doing anything, and they expect me to bring some innovative Ideas.

I am also very dissatisfied, since this is my first job, whether I should leave or not and if not then what innovative ideas to bring???

Waiting for the reply from you all.

With regards

Deepmala

Well do one thing ask you superior how long the company is going to bear such crisis, accordingly make a list of all the employees, their pay scale, bonus, incentives and total revenue excluding the expenses. Then curtail all the other unnecessary expenses like bonus, incentives, miscellaneous expenses like petrol allowance, traveling allowance, amt spent on tea, coffee, phone bills of the employees working at higher designation. So managing all this things will help you all people to get salary on time.
Hope this helps you if the company is small.

Dear Deepmala,
On a bright side it's really great that you've to face challenges in the first job itself, but be assured that this'll pay rich dividends in long run !!!
Suggestions:- 1. Mingle with the employees & see what is their opinion.
2. Don't be traditional HR who noymbally keeps self out of the croud.
3. Talk to Sales guys ( Senior level if you can, but I doubt since you are a new recruit), about orders in pipeline , expected breakthru's & recession.
4. Silimarly finance people about cash flow
Since you are a new recruit they'll not be comfortable to share this sensitive information, but you can definitely demand it to your inline manager who has given this assignment.
This data will be self explanatory.
First convince yourself & then try to convice others !!!
Wish you the best,
Regards,
Amit

Why they are facing financial crunch? Is it related to poor performance and its attendant effect on revenue? In that case, you have to go for pruning exercise of downsizing and remove the poor performers. All are working for money and you can not convince the employees for delayed payment everymonth. After all, everyone has got commitments and the timely payment will be expected by all including you. Talk to your management for tangible steps and course correction which you may deem fit.

Hi!,
You are in a difficult situation trust me. Do not show your frustration to any of your colleagues and don't make it a habitual discussion on this issues. Simultaneously try searching for another one than being in a sinking ship..

HI Deep Mala,
I read your problem. See when the emloyer is not paying you the salary. their is nopoint working there. Dont let them exploit you. No matter its your first job or 10th job. Youu must fight for your right. In case you leave this job dont forget to claim your arrears of salary.
No one is expected to work for free. and whyu should one work for free.

Deepmala,
Its gr8 that u perform the duty in a critical situation ,
If the Policy of Labour Adopted , that No Salary No Work ,
But let u ask to the managment for the financial crisis how long it will go & personnaly watch .
If the solution carried out can setisfy to the worker .

Hello Deepmala,
I understand your situation, few things to be noted to solve this problem.
If ur organisation is a product based company then ,
Support people are much essential. you have to maintain 4:1 ratio (support:Developer). Testers are to be max 2 candidates, track your marketing people work to increase the revenue. More over change the salary break ups and reduce the salaries. Implement new deduction techniques.
performance weightage has to be done immediately.
If project based try increase revenue from existing clients. Saying upgrades or by someother means.
--Wish u good luck

Hi Deepa,
It is a challenging & good opportunity also. Try to go through the 1 year track record for all the employees. You will find some potential as well as impotential employees. You speak to some senior employees and ask them suggetions. Based on that you can bifurcate the salaries. Some of the employees will be given Basic only and some will be Basic + like that. Anyway every organisation has potential & non potential employees. employee who doesn't perform only talk somuch. see all the IT companies how they are trying to come out from this financial crunch. Some companies paying only basic and not paying bonus & incentives and also perks. And employees also should understan the situation and they themself think that it is their company and should work harder that past. Every one is having their problems & committments. But they shoul work towards organisation goals also.

Arun
