Dear all had a query regarding hra. can a company have two different hra percentages amongst staff? the company has recently changed the hra percentages. they have kept the hra as it was previous for the recent joinees less than a year in the organization whereas they have changed the hra for the older employees and also the new joinees. is it acceptable? regards pratima

Dear experts please let me know about the hra exemption in such cases. when employees are given hra from employer into their salary and other hand it is deducted from their salary for those who are availing residential quarters provided by the company township. in such case hra should be calculated as income or not. regards s.shah
How could arrive hra % in gross salary
Dear peers as i have very big doubt in hra workings in ctc. there is no procedure/law says about hra workings. since we all will go to new pf & esi slap. in that pf calculation hra is exemted. but there is no law says that hra should be this much in gross salary. if the company can decide to fix the hra themselves on the basis of locality where the company situated that will not accepted by pf inspectors rather we can go with income tax act it says 40 of basic is hra that also not agreed by pf officials even it also a local law. so seniors please guide me how we can resolve this issue? share your valuable points regards sakthi
Hra exemption calculation
Hello all my employer is considering hra exemption for tax calculation for only the hra receipts that i ve submitted i.e. hra exemption is not being projected for the rest of the year. so i was wondering if it is not statutory to calculate hra exemption for the entire year or is this exemption calculation govenrned by hr policies of the organization. thanks in advance for any advice that you can offer. regards rajesh.

No an employer cannot remove hra from their salary. only emplyee s who has own home can be removed that with their consent and to be shown that part of pay in other allowancespecial all. those who live in rent houses then hra is applicable as per the law.
