halo seniors & frds, i hav a query...there is a maharashtra based factory. having 467 workers and 50 supervisory and administrative staff.whether the factory is required to appoint a welfare officer? are supervisory/administrative officers/ executives considered for calculation of the employment strength wrt appointment of welfare officer as per factories act???kindly reply soon

dear for calculation of stregth in respect of any provision of factory act,total strength is counted including security personnel working on gate.so you have to appoint welfare officer. regards js malik

Hellow sir as for the information given your post if u have 467 workers and 50 other staffs. the factories act says that 500 or more employees were employed any day of preceding 12 months so you should appoint a welfare officer under the Factories Act. apart from that you should select a person as a welfare officer for the dominant gender of the factory
