Hello Members,

I recently conducted a test on Emotional Intelligence for people at the manager level. Based on the scores, I provided feedback for every employee with a PowerPoint presentation attached on what "Emotional Intelligence" is all about and how to implement it.

I attempted to create a mix and match with all the PowerPoint presentations I have on Emotional Intelligence (EI). I aimed to make it a simple "7" slide presentation.

Please find the attached PPT.

Thanks!

Good one. Yet, if you can share the test that you have conducted, it will make more sense. Through that it will be easy for you to convey meaning and easy for us to understand it. Keep it up. Thanks.

Dear Ash,

Thanks for posting the useful and needed PowerPoint presentation. As requested, if there is a possibility to share the test conducted, it would provide more insight to gain in-depth knowledge on the topic.

Best wishes and regards,

Dear Ravi,

The test "belongs to the company" and so I would not be able to share it. Had it been in any e-book, I would have definitely sent the link. However, the PPT is not the "feedback". It's just an explanation of what EI is and how it can help you. The PPT is something that I have worked on, but the test belongs to the company - and not my creation.

Nice one. I really like it, and now it is my turn because I received a very good gift from you in the form of this insight. I do not take anything for free, so I am reciprocating by sending you a link where 17 pages of wisdom are shared. You will find hundreds of ebooks, audiobooks, interviews, and articles on motivational subjects. Don't just stop at page 1 on Successories; go beyond and explore the other 16 pages where you can choose and download materials according to your preference.

The link is here: https://www.citehr.com/138888-free-m...-download.html.

Once again, thanks for your insight.

I am so delighted to read them in a very well-said yet concise presentation. In due recognition to you, I have shared these moments with the general nursing staff along with the middle managers in a meeting. It was an open-ended question with enthusiasm after reading both!

It is truly a presentation that serves its best purpose, and I wish to recognize the effort of bringing this piece to the HR family. Thank you once again.

Hi Ash,

It is a very nice and well-composed PowerPoint presentation. The way you used pictures and quotes makes it easier to understand and more effective. I have learned a lot from this presentation. Actually, I was not very aware of the concept of EI. Additionally, "HOW TO MAKE AN EFFECTIVE PPT" is another valuable lesson for me. Can you suggest some books for reading? Also, I want to learn more about EMPATHY. Could you suggest some reading material on that as well?

Thanks, Dear,
Dipti D.

Dear Dipti,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

How to create an Effective PPT: To be frank, I have not read any books, but I have followed the following notes (which were passed on to me by my Professor Ms. Sumathi - my Organizational Behavior professor!)

a) People going through PPTs have a tendency to remember points when displayed with pictures.
b) People lose interest after the first five slides - they just go through it for the sake of completing it.
c) Lesser animations have more impact. Use them only when emphasis is required.
d) Add humor and creativity. You can search for cartoons and work-related pictures online to convey a serious message in a simple yet effective manner.

As you requested, I searched and found a presentation on Scribd. Check this link - www.scribd.com/doc/.../Developing-Effective-Presentation-Slide-Decks

For empathy-related material, please consider reading:

- Empathy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- Managing Change Key One - Empathy

Hope the above information is helpful to you!

Quite a concise PowerPoint presentation on Emotional Intelligence. Good value additions in simplifying it to just 7 points.

Could you share the test questions? The results are certainly your company's property, but the questions could be useful for everyone and could aid in self-evaluation.

Dear Ash,

Good PPTs!! :) I am sure you have made them yourself.

How did you administer the test? There is a slide of "checklist" that contains some questions. Is it the questionnaire proper? But it does not have a scoring key to interpret the responses. :icon5:

Nobody is asking you to share the results of your company or individuals. Agreed, that they are company property. What we are interested in knowing is the methodology adopted, after you have (assuming) made the presentation, for conducting the test (or applying the "instrument"). :?: It is about the questionnaire and its answers and scoring methodology.

In other words, you may have employed a Likert scale or some sort of scoring methodology which would rate responses such as "yes", "no", "sometimes", "never", "rarely", etc. And after you add up the scores, there must be a grading or rating scale, which would tell you, for example, scores between 200 - 250 - You have an Excellent E.I.; between 170 - 200 Fairly acceptable EI, between 50 - 10 You need to take a hard look at yourself, etc. etc. You know what I mean :-D Please enlighten the members (including me) on these aspects. That is what we are interested in knowing.

Regards.

The .ppt had given a new definition to leadership, which contains 90% emotions. In my view, a person can be successful only when he/she can control their emotions as well as understand the emotions of others working under him/her or with him/her.

Dear Raj and everyone else who has asked for the test:

Firstly, the test has nothing to do with the understanding of the PPT. I prepared it solely for employees to understand why EI is important for their career and growth.

Yes, Raj, the PPT was my creation, but with the help of existing material on the net as well as citehr.

The test is not my creation. It was prepared by experts in the industry who have decades of experience in assessment.

The test is not likert-based or closed-end answers or even open-ended answers. They are situational based. The interpretation has scores, but the interpretation would vary irrespective of the same scores for different people.

How I administered the test was based on the training I received from the people who created it.

I agree no one is asking to share the results of the company or individuals. I urge you to read the statements made on it and the reason why it was even quoted.

There are so many tests online (like how you have shared PPT links). Please try them; even they are created by experts in the field. I have also shared one such link in my previous posts. This will help you understand how the grading is done by different experts.

I request you to please look into my messages and even the response to people's opinions on sharing the test. No one asked for a methodology except you, and I don't mind sharing "the methodology" (which I have done above).

Thanks.

Hi Pakhi,

When you mention, "the test. What was the part and parcel in that" and when the thread heading as given by Ash "A .ppt on Emotional Intelligence that you may use" and when she says "I recently conducted a test"... it got me foxed. And I somehow thought, like you, that the test was part and parcel of the ppt or vice-versa. And I was scratching my head on 'how on earth can one devise an instrument based on the ppt, make a scoring/grading system, and then administer to employees, and finally, provide feedback to everyone.

Now that Ash in her post has cleared the air, I am at peace. There was an EI test - separate - results proprietary material of Ash & Co. Then, there was a ppt presentation by Ash (while handing out the result) to explain EI - and this ppt one can use freely. Well, an overworked brain can hamper comprehension of even simple tasks. So, where does it put me on your test, Ash.

Regards.

I would not be able to comment on you, Sir - just like that, with no test.

However, please take the tests that are available online (I had posted a link in my previous post). That should give you an idea about your EI level.

Please note - there are a few different things you need to know while taking the test. A person with a low EI may be:

a) Someone who lets situations rule and makes decisions under pressure, without considering facts and reality. Emotions govern him. For example, a small comment from a colleague might lead him to the extent of resigning and seeking apologies from his colleague to retract his resignation.

b) A person with a low EI may vent his anger/emotions on others. If someone frustrates him, he might take out his anger on his juniors at the office.

c) A person who tries to cover others' mistakes by taking all the burden himself to avoid hurting their feelings, ending up under immense pressure. Others may take advantage of his "positives."

d) A person who acknowledges personal feelings but believes that showing anger is necessary to get work done may also have a low EI.

(These are just a few observations; a deeper understanding of people around you will help you recognize the dominant emotions.)
